I beat my brothers ninja 500
Like the title says: today i turned up the boost to 14psi and did some quick tunning (still too rich, but safe above 7psi)
My brother talked me into doing some pulls... I raped his bike from a first gear roll, beat it from a second gear, and my 4th gear just DESTROYS him. :loser: The bike is a 2005 Ninja 500. His shits slow. He can stop faster tho. / immaturity |
Haha, nice kill man. I love beating bikes, even if it's some old fat guy on a harley. :bigtu:

Whoa! You beat an '80's 500cc bike! Whoa!
On a non-sarcastic side note, my friend just bought a 2009 250r. She was worried about having such a small engine, and was looking at the 500r (which hasn't recently been updated like the 250r). The salesman, who has a 2007 250r, said it obviously has a bit more kick, but it feels no where close to double the engine. Just putting that out there. |
Nice man!
Who wants to race me on my Giggy 1k? It has over twice the HP of my '90 NA... :giggle: |

Just putting that out there. yeah it is pretty sad that they havent changed ANYTHING on the bike in over 20 years. It is still carbed, and ugly. Its a great starter bike tho. I would feel a lot more comfortable riding that for a summer rather than jumping strait on a 600 or liter bike. |

I rode a 500R for a year before I got the Triumph...and they aren't that fast. They are quick, and was a decent sport bike. Great for the road as you could push it near the edge of it's envelope safely. I raced a buddy in his GTO and got raped once, but it would stay with or beat 98% of what was on the road. The nice thing about lack of updates was it was easy to work on, but damn those things never got any prettier. My little bro started on and '08 250R last year, and we were both thoroughly impressed with the bike. Lots of power for a 250cc, and responds well to exhaust and carb work. Great learning bike that doesn't leave to owner feeling like they're on a scooter. And man could that thing lean! He stepped up to a ZX-6R he was so impressed with the quality and feel of that bike. |
With some work on your brakes you could probably outbrake him.
|
+1 Those get light in the back end real quick. Easy to control...but doesn't help their stopping distance any. Most people think bikes stop short...they really don't.
|
It makes sense, no matter how nice your brakes are, they're going to be extremely limited if you only have two tires and 500# putting that braking power to the pavement.
Gospeed, I'm glad you said it responds well to exhaust and carb work, my friend will be pleased as she just bought a full two brothers exhaust system for it. As well as frame sliders, tank bag, wheel stripes, fender eliminator, new helmet, and a tank protector, all within a week of buying the bike. Wish I had that sorta money! Do you remember what kind of jetting changes you made to the carb? I'll no doubt be helping her with that sooner or later. |
I can almost guarantee that unless he's a professional racer, you'll be able to outbrake him in the miata right now. A small, double piston, non-radial mount single disc up front attached to a 110 width bias ply tire will not slow that thing faster than a stock NA.

We have always used Two Brother Racing, kinda funny when we think about how fitting the name is. The TBR slip-on sounded great on the Triumph as well and made it RIP (with PCIII).

Yet people jump out in front of you thinking you'll stop in time (and probably not too worried about the prospect that you don't). |
Curly,
We also did a pretty nice tail mod on it (stock thing is FUGLY!), but it took about 8 hrs, a lot of creativity and dremel work. I'll ask my brother if any of it was a kit, but I think he just bought one of those LED license plate bolts, two strips of red leds, some blinker kit, and we fabbed the frame and tail replacement piece. Turned out nice, let me know if you want pics. |

You need more work on your braking skills. Bikes brake like shit compared to cars.
Nice you killed a 60HP bike, now compare hp/weight ratio's and you'll see you should've. |
I beat up elderly people with bats and shit all the time but you don't see me posting about it.

Wow, back when the car was still NA and had a slipped timing belt, there was this cyclist next to me and I gave him a head start and next I floored it and he was nowhere. Really! :loser:
