Sold the IS300, which I had lots of issues with if you all remember. Hopefully this car will have better luck. 06 Jeep liberty renegade w/ all options and free satillite radio.. yay.

hrm I'm not sure buying a liberty to have "less issues" was the way to go :o

jwarriner 08-24-2007 11:33 AM

An American made mid-size SUV with less issues than a Toyota/Lexus? Hmmm... Good luck!

Newbsauce 08-24-2007 11:34 AM

Ah my friend is a jeep mechanic, and as far as the issues, most have been weeded out in 2k3-4. This one is under B-Bumper warranty until 36k (it has 18k) and powertrain 7/70

Ben 08-24-2007 11:39 AM

I'm glad you got both light packages. That way you'll have no trouble seeing the road on those dark DC nights.

My sister's Jeep has had 0 mechanical failures with 80k miles to date.
I drove it two weeks ago; didn't care for it compared to my explorer. I thought the steering was vauge, engine was unresponsive, and the diff whined.

fixed.

y8s 08-24-2007 12:22 PM

Jeep huh? last jeep I drove had steering like a school bus.

did this model year fix the problem where they slide on the roof after lane changes?

krayzrac3r 08-24-2007 12:33 PM

how could you have the heart to get rid of the lexus for that thing you call a car!?!?!? Anyways as long as you like it then thats all that matters.

Newbsauce 08-24-2007 01:19 PM

My lexus had 85k miles and I sold it for like 2.5k less then I paid 3 years later. Sorry it does not appeal to me to own two 3" off the ground RWD cars anymore. As far as my "issues" with the Lexus they were not mechanical. People kept keying/hitting/and fucking up my Lexus.

Philip 08-24-2007 01:23 PM

nobody will fuck with a liberty, they expect a 30 something soccor mom to be driving (badly)

So the issues you had with the Lexus were intentionally created. Hopefully you have some sort of a warranty with that shitbox.

I own no VW. You know how I feel about them.

messiahx 08-24-2007 02:52 PM

My parents have a liberty with ~40K miles, it's an '02, first year they were out. No major problems yet. Just don't take it to a dealer for service, we've had plenty of bad experience, though I suppose that goes w/o saying on this forum. I'm curious, does the rear differential have a rubber stopper for it's filler hole? We just found out a couple weeks ago that is the case on my parents'. Quite shocking for a vehicle that should be good up to it's headlights in water.

:bowrofl:

srsly? that 4 door minivan?

messiahx 08-24-2007 03:00 PM

Well that's what was advertised. Hell if I know how that'd hold up. It's been raining for a week straight here, maybe I should go find a nice ditch and try it :)

brgracer 08-24-2007 03:13 PM

I think you just wanted a car with a backseat for your "other" work. :gay:

Braineack 08-24-2007 03:16 PM

i think he really wanted a car he could trust in inclement weather and something that could pull the miata if need be.

The least he could do is offer them service in a stepvan.

TonyC 08-24-2007 04:27 PM

turbopezz 08-24-2007 06:25 PM

haha,i read all the shit that happened to your is300.it made me not want one like there cursed or something,so many have salvaged tittles .

lazzer408 08-24-2007 07:45 PM

Now all you need is a Mac and an iPod to go with it. (no stereotyping here) :gay:

Newbsauce 08-24-2007 09:32 PM

Haha no the IS's are great cars... they really just lack any kind of torque unless boosted or SCed. Reliable as hell though, but awful in bad weather conditions.

Whats funny about that is my friend who owns a jetta and a mac was thinking about getting a kitten. He said.. "I've got a Jetta and a Mac, this doesnt look good for my sexuality".

LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking, selling a Toyota product and getting a Jeep hoping issues will be less. That's kind of like getting a vasectomy via an NFL kicker and hoping it won't hurt, isn't it?

I just sold an 03 Liberty (fully loaded) for $5950 about two weeks ago. It was a friend's who was too busy to do it himself, cause he is getting married. He had almost no problems with it, one minor transfer case part. And it had 187,000 miles. Runs and drives like new, I enjoyed having it for a few weeks. Gas mileage is pretty lousy, though, otherwise my wife wanted it.

Newbsauce 08-28-2007 10:51 AM

Yeah I havent' had to fill up the tank yet, but I dont jump on the throttle so i'm hoping for 20 mpg.. we'll see though.

Philip 08-28-2007 11:21 AM

if my 20 year old XJ can get 20, so can the liberty

cjernigan 08-28-2007 11:26 AM

My '91 6cyl wrangler got 18 no matter how i drove it. 160k miles.
Bought it for $1200, replaced the slave and changed the oil. Only other problems it has is a worn out 5spd and a leaky rear transfer case seal.

I would have bought it for that

I hate selling cars to people I know. Although I probably would have drove it out there for the price of a ticket back. Oh well, sorry.

I think I got about 14/15mpg and I wasn't really that hard on it. My miata has been getting 30mpg (NA was 26) and I drive it with some enthusiasm. I told my wife I would rather have two turbo miatas.
