The movie-as-a-religion thing is going to be more and more prevalent since everything is OK if your OK with it in the context of your unique and wonderful cultural-social-economic sphere projected onto your unique background as an individual on a voyage of self-discovery. At some point actually having a line between sane and crazy became wrong, possibly due to the slew of fuckos who exploited said line for personal gain. We mistakenly did away with the line rather than the fuckos. Its a nice parralell to gun control actually. My bet is that we soon have a whole new word for these people that re-organize their psychology for every gushy summer-hit movie with supernatural overtones. Something like convertemos perhaps. |

Your optimism is touching. I doubt it. By the time these kids get to college, the TAs running their undergrad classes will publishing journals about it.

Who fucking cares? Why in gods name is there a whole news story about this? THAT is the true problem here.

i decided, while you read through the thread, this song should be playing in the background. |
I see nothing new or unusual here.
When I was in school, we had long hair, wore all black, and listened to heavy metal. The previous generation had punk, before them it was hippies. Later, grunge. Heck, I wore a Metallica T-shirt under my robe when I graduated from college. Every new generation of kids has their own version of pseudo-rebellious conformist non-conformism. They'll grow out of it. |
