I got the dumbest ordinance violation ever today

305.20(5) - No exhaust tip past body line

WTF

Add that to the three other ordinance violations I received on the Miata today (defective muffler, front license plate, rear tires). Has anyone seriously heard of this before? I looked it up and the muffler Nazi didn't make it up, but I have never ever ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for it, honestly its kind of ridiculous.

Also found out that using flex piping is not street legal either, not that I have any though. I am going to cobble together the most hideous exhaust ever, tips sticking up four feet in the air Uber JDM stYle for inspection in 14 days. Hey, it will be legal according to the book!

18psi 07-15-2008 02:00 AM

WTF!!!!?

never heard of that, sounds so stupid...wow

ApexOnYou 07-15-2008 02:11 AM

I got this Sheriff in trouble three years ago with his superior (Who is a good friend of the family) due to his conduct and attitude, well she is now retired so I am kinda up shits creek when it comes to this guy. I have no clue how he remembered considering I didn't even remember him, must have figured it out through my background check. His last words to me today were something along the lines of "..but she isn't a sheriff anymore, now is she?"

Prick.

18psi 07-15-2008 02:20 AM

man thats fucked... and here I thought it was GOOD when your muffler doesnt stick out a mile from under ur car......

well Im pretty sure this kinda bs wouldnt happen if you weren't on the "hate" list lol...if they wanna get u, there are so many stupid ass laws for them to choose from its almost too easy. thankfully most of the time they have better shit to do though lol

ApexOnYou 07-15-2008 02:32 AM

Funny thing is, when he pulled me over 3 years ago, it was in the Miata for no muffler. LOL. Full exhaust has come and past since then. I was real quiet for at least half of that time.

I don't think I am necessarily on the "hate" list, this dude is just a ordinance freak. Also one of those cops who obviously went into the field for the power, the type who you figure was bullied as a younger child or something like that.

took the words right out of my mouth:bowrofl:
ive been pulled over by those types a couple times, oh man is that statement true

magnamx-5 07-15-2008 04:19 AM

well if the muffler is not muffling adequatly the sound then yes int he eyes of the law it is defective. Might i sugest strangling him with a bike lock and then disolving the body with hydrofluoric acid Like in breacking bad lol

Wow, you're fucked... I'd consider moving. Although, statements like that can get his ass in some trouble too. You might check with your retired friend, she may still have some juice to ruin his day with.

Fixed.

You don't make sheriff without having established relationships with the local courthouse.

+1, exactly what i was thinking.

levnubhin 07-15-2008 10:46 AM

Dude thats so BS. Look around there are so many cars on the road with oem exhaust that are hardly even visible let alone past the body line.

why the hell is a flex section illegal?

ApexOnYou 07-15-2008 11:23 AM

No clue why flex pipe is illegal. For clarification, its the flex pipe you buy from AutoZone, not the flex pipe that comes after a down pipe. At least I am learning all of these retarded laws now.

Honestly I don't think I am going to complain about him since it can only make this worse, he was kinda threatening to inspect my emissions controls (or lack thereof), although I don't think he can without having probable cause since he has to search inside my car. Nothing on the outside suspects that my emission controls are gone except loud exhaust. Still, that could really ruin my day.

Sometime during the hour long stop, I explained that I had my bald azenis on for the track last week (trying to get out of that ticket), and he was like "oh what do you run?", and stupid me not thinking said "12s". I'm thinking FUCK why did you say that, he is going to search me more now.. He says "Oh, well I KNOW that you cannot do that to this car and stay emissions legal, but I am not going to go look right now". I argued "Uh, you would be suprised. Actually you can." He argues back "No, you cant", we went back and forth maybe three more times before I just shut my mouth. What a dumb fuck, yea taking off those emission controls netted me like 150hp :jerkit:

Thats messed up, I bet that cop takes it up the tail pipe.

messiahx 07-15-2008 04:12 PM

Just curious, where did you get nailed? I'm assuming around Milwaukee/Waukesha county, right? And how the hell can they nail you for tires? Were you on the belts or something? Around Appleton/Green Bay where I live I've never heard of emissions being an issue or cops being THAT ridiculous (although I do have a ticket for 'spinning in a parking lot' and was threatened with being arrested for doing so).

I got pulled over on HW11 in Racine (Next to Regency Mall), a block from where he pulled me over 3 years ago on the same road.

What part of WI are you from?

Haha thats exactly what I was picturing in my head.

I've decided to hack my old 2.5" Enthuza exhaust on it for inspection, as with some ugly wheels I have with plenty of tread. Definately putting a complaint in on this Sheriff, the more I think about his attitude the more I get pissed off, and I know that I am not the only one who he does this to. It is just plain harassment, in the end, whats the worst that will happen. I will get a butt load of non moving violations? Better than the buttload he gets every night :giggle:

DEFINATELY ordering an electric exhaust cutout in the next few weeks, and a more permenent exhaust..

Genious!

I wonder if that is possible. I am no where near that point yet, but how funny would it be to get a restraining order on a cop..

That'd be a neat trick honestly. I'm not real savvy on law, but I'd imagine it might be possible given the right judge.. :giggle: Freakin cops..

messiahx 07-16-2008 01:37 AM

Ah, I'm not really familiar with Racine. I lived in downtown Milwaukee the last year (college) and my fiance's parents live in Menomonee Falls, so I'm a little bit familiar with the northern suburbs of Milwaukee but that's about it. I currently live about 10 miles from Appleton (Outagamie county) and no emissions testing is required here.

ApexOnYou 07-16-2008 02:31 AM

Yeah no emissions here anymore either. I have the car registered being "stored" up north though, since there was still emissions at the time that I registered it.

Just finished looking through every state regulation for motor vehicles. There are a TON of retarded regulations that I can't believe are even in the books.

messiahx 07-16-2008 12:59 PM

I'm tempted to read through the regulations myself now. What pisses me off more that stuff like that is that this state will go easy on drunk drivers but that a loud exhaust or shitty tires is worth an hour of their time that could be better spent getting the real hazards taken care of.

ApexOnYou 07-16-2008 01:39 PM

Heres the Wisconsin regs, the only two chapters that I found that apply to vehicles in this case.

Chapt. Trans. 305 (This is the specific stuff, exact specs and whatnot) http://www.legis.state.wi.us/rsb/cod...s/trans305.pdf

Chapt. 347 (More general regs that are defined further in TR305)
http://www.legis.state.wi.us/statutes/Stat0347.pdf

No shit? I used to live in Little Chute, then in Waukesha after that. I was in middle school at the time though so I have nothing to share about driving mishaps.

Arkmage 07-16-2008 02:20 PM

you'll have a hard time proving harassment if he's only pulled you over twice in 3 years. Even more so if the violations were valid and similar.

ApexOnYou 07-16-2008 04:19 PM

I am not reporting harassment, I just want to report his conduct and how he implied that I have no one to complain to anymore. I've spoken with a few people in the field of law, and they agree 100% on my side, so I figure I must be somewhat in the right :dunno:

Funny, I'm actually moving to Kaukauna this weekend, which should put me ~5mins from Little Chute. I keep hearing that Kaukauna smells awful because of the paper mills...I hope it's not too bad. You get any of the stench where you lived?

SamS 07-17-2008 05:25 PM

I'm from Hubertus, went to Germantown schools. Now I attend UW-Stout up in Menomonie and my parents will be moving to West Bend in the coming months. I've pretty much deserved it every time I've been pulled over, though I still refuse to put my front plate on.

mazdamitch333 07-17-2008 07:18 PM

hah wisconsin rules. im from west bend area. The cops in certain areas aka hwy 100 that end of town are total dicks. My cars brakes went out one that street coming back from a wedding dressed in full out suit, happened to be a friday night so the street was of course packed for thse who know the area. And an officer pulled up and was razzing the shit outta me asking if i was street racing where it was at blahb blah being a tough ass and must have thought I just dress up like im going to church every day.

ApexOnYou 07-17-2008 11:40 PM

Cops at HW100 are no joke

mazdamitch333 07-17-2008 11:41 PM

no they are not. i mean if i was cruising I would see they ass attitude but they are just complete assbags there to everrryone

SamS 07-18-2008 07:07 AM

I've only ever seen civics, mustangs and camaros pulled over on hwy 100, though i only go out there a couple times a year.

mazdamitch333 07-18-2008 10:08 AM

yea i rarely go there now. Wents 2 times this year a dont see myself going any more

ApexOnYou 07-18-2008 01:13 PM

I make it maybe 2 or 3 times a year, but I think that the crowd up there is getting younger and dumber, or maybe I am just getting older. 75% of the time I am getting bugged by 16 year olds in daddys car.

I put my 2.5" enthuza back on today.. HOLY SHIT is this thing quiet (almost stock sounding off boost), and SLOWWW. Still loads of wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd but lag sucks, top end sucks, and it sounds like ass lol. Matched with the black IC, its stealthy now at least. :)

mazdamitch333 07-18-2008 01:24 PM

last time i went it was a big dick contest. young kids and super immature 2X yr olds rippingon everyones cars. Hwy is turning into a joke. its just too big and too many stupid kids are driving away the older guys who used to make it a fun placeto hangout it seems.

kotomile 07-18-2008 02:05 PM

Nah. Paper mills are usually tucked away from homes, though the smell of the caustics used to break down the pulp can be smelled pretty far away. My dad's not here or I'd ask him (he's a ME and works around paper mills, that's the whole reason we lived there in the first place). More and more mills are recycle mills and do not use the caustics that give them their smell. Jacksonville used to smell really bad but all of the mills are recycle mills now so the stench is gone.
