YAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard from someone inside mazda they've wanted to get away from ford for a while now, so when Ford goes under they don't drag mazda down with it.
I have no sympathy for them ("Big Three"). They've let teh UAW run the show way too long and now they're going to pay the price for it. Maybe if they offered something other than like, complete and total garbage GM and Ford would be able co compete with Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW, VW, etc.

Just remember that Ford's stake in Mazda is what kept Mazda from going out of business...so if it weren't for Ford, Mazda might not exist.
Maybe Mazda should return the favor and buy out a large controlling share of Ford and fix up the rest of the non-Mazda-platform Ford cars.

GM has some great cars. Public perception is killing them more than poor product. Just look at something like the Pontiac Vibe vs the Toyota Matrix. Same friggin car but the Matrix kills the Vibe in sales due only to the badge on the hood. Reliability? The Malibu is continually at the top of the midsize family sedan reliability ratings. Performance? The Vette smokes cars twice it's price. Luxury? The CTS-V bests the M5 and the similar offerings from MB or Lexus. While the only GM vehicle ever in my family is my fathers S10, I can give credit where credit is due. Sure the UAW has killed the bottom line for GM. But I think if someone wanted me to renegotiate my retirement now after I've got 20 years in at my job, I'd be pissed too.
