I just got my LSAT score

163

I'm so excited I can barely sit down! Just had to share this with someone, and I figured "Hey, who better than a group of total strangers?"

cjernigan 10-19-2007 06:58 PM

Way to go. I have no idea how hard that test is but i'm going to assume it's pretty tough.
On to law school?

Well, on to the admissions process anyway...

It's odd, I've been wondering and dreaming about this for years, and now that it's actually time I'm just in a total haze.

And yeah, the test is kind of a bitch, but then it was only one day. At this point the best-case-scenario involves three years of brutal torture and public humiliation, followed by the bar exam. Pretty twisted, eh?

cjernigan 10-20-2007 11:32 AM

Yeah that's a little much for my taste, thus the reason why i'm in manufacturing. We have to take a NAIT exam but all that does is pass fail us as being NAIT certified. Pretty simple stuff. You'll make far more than I though. Maybe there is a simple formula:
Pain and suffering+3yrs=Rich MFr

everyone in my family is a lawyer, Dont do it.

y8s 10-20-2007 12:33 PM

i went to a mini georgetown law school reunion last night.

oh man.

Joe Perez 10-20-2007 01:39 PM

Well, Loki, at this point I just don't seem to have a lot of options. I've been working as a radio engineer since before I graduated from college, and right now I'm working for a big company (Harris) doing design and support for audio mixers and routers.

The problem is that I've pretty much reached a dead-end. This industry is going downhill. The 90's were great, with all the consolidations and public capital it was like a second Golden Age of Radio. But nowadays ad revenues are declining, employment figures are dwindling, the writing is on the wall. Problem is that this is all I know how to do. I'm really good at designing equipment for radio stations and working with the stations to install it. Problem is that if the stations aren't making as much money, they aren't buying as much equipment. This is FTL.

Now, if I could get a job with someone like Bell, or FM, or Speedware, etc as a resident electronics guru I'd probably be happy. But you just don't find a lot of openings along those lines.

I figure that a legal education opens a lot of doors. It's a highly portable career- meaning you can go pretty much anywhere you want to and find work. That appeals to me every bit as much as the money, quite honestly.

We'll see. It's still a long road ahead, and my UGPA wasn't exactly stellar, so I honestly have no idea what to expect going forward.

Way to crap on his thread dude. I swear even if you posted being excited about getting a 1000 on you SAT's i would still congragulate you and not rub in that that score is a few hundred low to be getting excited about. From Joes enthusiasim it seems as if the LSAT might range to 170 or so :dunno: From reading the www.lsac.com website it seems to get a 160 he only missed 8 questions that is not to shabby. :D

cjernigan 10-20-2007 05:11 PM

I think he did well considering harvards cuttoff is 169 and that school is ridiculous. I would have probably gotten a 120.5.

Loki047 10-20-2007 05:24 PM

163 is very good, I belevie thats what my brother got and hes at a top 20 law school.

Joe Perez 10-20-2007 06:34 PM

The numbers vary a little bit for every test. On this particular administration, a 163 comes out to the 88'th percentile. Sounds impressive, but of course that includes all the people who aren't going to get accepted. More importantly to me, it's 1 point higher than UF's 75'th percentile average, as that is one school in particular I'd like to attend. They're in the top 50, I did my undergrad there, it's near my family, and I really loved Gainesville.

I haven't picked out a lot of specific schools yet. Obviously Stanford is out, but I think I'll apply to UF, Austin, Alabama, and Wake Forest for starters. I'd like to stay in the southern part of the country...

Tremiata 10-20-2007 07:27 PM

Sorry...wasnt crapping on anyone...I had to look it up cause I had no clue what a LSAT test was. It said the average fell between 140 and 160 and he scored above 160 so thats above average in my book.

johndoe 10-21-2007 11:38 PM

I have a friend in law school now. He says it's brutal. Incredibly boring. I'm still thinking about law school after I finish my current masters.

Saml01 10-22-2007 10:07 AM

163, dude good job. Thats considered competitive in NY. My parents + sister forced me to prep for the LSAT, they thought I was going to be a lawyer. Lol. I paid for the shit out of my pocket and hated every moment of it. I hope you enjoy it more then I did. Good Luck

Philip 10-22-2007 10:32 AM

oh good, this means you'll be so busy with school you won't have time to post.

Zabac 10-22-2007 11:03 AM

way to go Joe, make us proud...even though we are complete strangers
Wake Forest is a good school
