I need a bolt... will pay 1 beer.

I failed bad today. After finishing a great caliper paint-job on a buddy's MSM, I forgot to torque the upper caliper bracket bolt on the left front. I just fucked it away.

He's driving home and that bolt comes out. LUCKILY, it's the upper bolt and the assembly only came a couple inches away from the hub. If it had been the lower, I'd be shelling out for a new Racing Hart 17", 2 new front rotors/pads, maybe a Bilstein and some fender plastic... brake line... tow bill...

In any case, I canabalized my '93 to to make amends and get him back on the road. I need a front caliper bracket bolt. IIRC, all years are the same, and left/right are the same. I'm also pretty sure all 8 bolts front/rear/left/right are the same on every caliper bracket.

If you can put one in the mail for me tomorrow, I'll buy ya a beer sometime... maybe 2 if you put out! If nobody has one, there's always PlanetMiata.

Sam - If I had one I would send it to you. At some time, we all screw up the simple things. I'll never forget the time I installed a front pad backwards. The rotor was not very happy when I hit the brakes:bang:

just pull one of yours and go to home depot or napa

samnavy 03-16-2008 11:13 PM

Sumthin tells me I'm not going to find an automotive grade bolt of the exact proper length and size with the correct metric thread/pitch count at Home Depot.
Might be a slightly higher probability of success at just about any autoparts store, but I'm pretty familiar with the hardware isles and "universal brake caliper bracket bolt" never jumped out at me.

I'm lookin for a used OEM bolt... somebody has to have one lying around. I'll up the reward to 2 beers and a naked picture of my dog.

doesn't scott have an extra miata lying around? i'm sure he has an extra bolt or two to boot

You need the one highlighted in this schematic?
EPC shows that the slider pins are not universal. The one you need is 01+ hard suspension, top, front. Part B25D-33-694 $11.45 dealer retail.

The non hard suspension front, top pin is 8173-49-114 $5.20 dealer retail, and is specified in all non hard suspensions 90+.

The bottom pins are different. The rear pins are different.

Upon further reflection, I think you actually need this bolt (hub to bracket) and not the bolt I pictured before (caliper to bracket). Indeed, this bolt has a very broad application over many years. Part 99756-1035 $3.20 dealer retail.

samnavy 03-17-2008 08:47 AM

Ben, you are correct in your second picture... the bolt that holds the bracket to the hub/spindle. It's good to know that it's only $3... I'll call the dealer and see if they stock them. Thanks man!

Just called Hall Mazda... it'll be here Thurs, $6.
