I need a Manufacturing internship

I'm a Manufacturing and Industrial Technology major and am thinking I should get a summer internship/co-op next summer. I'm trying to work on making this happen now so I can decide if the internship will be worthwhile over coming back to Alaska to work or not. Pretty simple. If you could take an internship in manufacturing, who would to try and do this with?

I'm thinking I might try Caterpillar but I'm not sure I want to go spend time in Peoria, Illinois to do so though it is definitely an option.

I felt my time at Bosch in Charleston,SC was well worth it. I worked as a manufacturing engineer for 2 years (co-op) on the EV14 fuel injector assembly lines. If you think you might be interested I'll see if I can't contract some of my old friends down there. They hire interns/co-ops regularly so they may be interested.

I may also be able to connect you to some folks in Houston if you are interested in the sub-sea/oil industry. I'm still pretty new in this market, but by next summer I should have a pretty good list of contacts.

Nothing really. Never been there. Been told it's alot like chicago, very big and busy. Born and raised in rural alaska, huge cities are definitely not my favorite place to be.

Arkmage, I might take you up on the bosch contacts offer. All the contacts I have the better off I am.

I grew up near Chicago, and I live in Peoria. They are nothing alike. Peoria city proper is ~120,000 people, the metro area ~300,000. So its a pretty small city, Cat being the big thing. Peoria has much more of the mid-western, conservative, rural laid back influence.

The smell and the people.

If your are from a rural area then you would probably like peoria. You can avoid the city completely (which is more like 3-4 areas of commerce)

Interesting stuff. I need to travel through the midwest more.
