Best CC for rewards.

Reading the other thread got me thinking. What do you guys use and what rewards do you get? I have a CC with a really dirt low fixed rate but it offers no rewards.

I have been looking at a CC with airlines miles especially since I am getting married in a year and would love to put the wedding expenses on a card to get some rewards back. (cash/miles) My credit is spotless and my asset to debt ratio is a joke (in my favor). All I owe anyone is about 5k for grad school which I can more than pay but choose not to so that I can make money off interest with the money in other accounts, as well as try to get the government to pay at least part of since it is in education. I do not care to much about APR since I pay it off monthly and never carry a balance. Annual fee does bother me some, but not if it really pays off. My fiance can get USAA stuff but I can not get those benefits or CC till we are married.

SO.

1) What CC reward program do you have/use
2) interest, % and rate fixed or variable
3) what rewards do you get cash/miles
4) limit on what you can get? Miles do or do not expire etc.

thanks

I think nerdwallet does some airline miles evaluations. check those out before you pick an airline card.

remember that it is INCONVENIENT to use miles if you're not a frequent flier. You might have to pick a 3 month window and several destinations and start your search for flights a year out to get something close to what you want in some cases. but you'll save thousands if you're lucky.

side note.

Picked up a new CC from my bank. Been using it just like i normally do (a glorified ATM card) and I pay it off every week.

Between down payment on wedding reception hotel, grad school tuition, gas, etc already managed to take off $100+ dollars on a trip with my fiance to lake Tahoe this Christmas.

I have three cards now. First pays 1% back on everything (State Farm Visa). I use it to pay my truck insurance but you can keep the cash if you want. Second pays 2% on food/medical and 1% on everything else (I don't hardly ever use it). I just picked up the third (Chase Freedom Visa). Pays 5% on some things (the things change every 3 months) and 1% on everything else. Right now the 5% is fuel, hotel, and airline. In the 4th quarter it will be dinning, department store, movies, charity. I got $100 back when I spent my first $300 (or was it $500?) on it as a little bonus. Right now it is the only card I carry.

Screw airline miles. You want CASH!

Yup I got a Freedom card. I'm hoping that I can combine the double points for booking through the chase site to get some more cash back + 5% for air this month, plus the extra 10% points for being a chase customer + the 10 points on any purchase for being a chase customer.:giggle:

I'll know if it worked next month.
Plus i'm going to give to my church via my CC for the 4th quarter hehe. Then go back to checks in Jan.

I love buying things under $10. I end up making points after the automatic 10 points and 10% for having a chase bank account

We used to primarily use Discover. They have a great website and super easy to use cash back system, plus their 5% cash back quarterly offers. However, not every merchant accepts Discover, so we had a Chase Rewards Visa as a backup.

Now, my brokerage account has a 1.5% cash back Visa. We run as much of our monthly expense as we can through that and pay it off each month. I could not even tell you the exact APR, and I'm a "money guy."
