Here is from a local forum I am on...
I ran the car off the road...: And then some nice hillbilly pulled it out...the steering locked..he was going to fast...and it slammed into an embankment...and fucked up the rear...however, I didn't have time to wait on the tow truck and wait because I couldn't afford to get a ticket for this...luckily...the rear bumper and finish panel needed replacing anyway...but I'm worried about the crease put in the left rear quarter panel. Anyway, here is the story: Some friends and I were on a drive down Highway 194, I led up the mountain, then let them lead down, I didn't want to push it on the way down because I had that feeling that everything wasn't feeling right, so I took it easy, I was going about 45 MAYBE 50 coming on a turn and I braked lightly...my right rear was the only one that grabbed and it locked up and the car started to skid, I'd estimate it slid about 30 feet then went off the road...hit wooden pole/fence and went down the hill about 8 feet or so.... I'm pissed because I was doing the speed safely...and my caliper locks up under LIGHT braking...I guess it could have been worse...and I got lucky. The damage: Rear bumper, finish panel, rear quarter panel, drivers taillight, passenger fender if I can fix it... Pics soon...this sucks...lesson 17 year old cars and safely driving = bad :)...I gotta check the calipers later. |

lol...oddly enough, I'm really not that upset...I'm pissed because I was driving normal, but I wasn't doing anything dumb. Its just life so I'm not going to sweat it...she runs...I'm alive. Cars can be fixed or replaced.

Im happy you are still alive my friend....things could have been worse, lol Hey I lost control going 110 miles an hour on the freewAY on a rainy night...I almost got hit by 3 cars doin ta 360 through 3 lanes....I about shit my pants..i WAS LUCKY the damage could have been alot worse, my old front bumper was wreaked and the drivers side fender

Anybody know the average price I should pay for a bumper cover...(planetmiata has them for $125...but then you gotta pay shipping) I know the finish panel is going to cost me at LEAST $200 bucks...new taillight about $30... or so.. (assuming thats all I need, should be able to pull the support out the 1" right?) |
I've seen bumper covers go in the $150-$200 range.

I drove it home from school...put her up on jackstands and found this. I guess it is down until I can swap in a new rear end...I'd like to find a torsen or maybe I'll check out some more info on the TII...but I think thats overkill for my needs...little help sourcing parts guys? |

I'm pretty sure he can source you a carrier only. If your axles , etc. are ok. Oh maybe you don't already have a torsen unit.

Well...I called around and I'm just waiting on a car to come in with a torsen LSD that I want on it...should have one within the month...
IIRC, the factory gearing on a 90-93 is 4.30 and the most common Torsen is a 4.10? This really wont be to noticable would it? just making my gears a little longer and reduce cruising rpms by just a tad? |

Well...I called and he said that it sounded like 'mechanical failure' and unless I wanted to file a claim and actually have someone go out and look at it to see otherwise its not covered...
And nobody at State Farm - Agent, Claims adjuster, or someone in the underwriting office knows what "outstanding circumstances" Oh well. |
I paid 1200 from Mazmart about 6 years ago. I was new to miatas then and didn't know better. 700 is a very good price for the entire swap.

PLPD is the minimum coverage in Michigan. You pay money but your not actually covered for anything except if you hit someone and they sue you for personal injury. And if someone hits you, the most you can get for your car is $400 unless you have your own collision coverage. I just keep it on my regular cars/beaters. Its about $200 for six months.

Result is that everyone is driving an unsafe POS that will cause accidents just because the brakes down work, it stalls constantly, you can't see through the cloud of smoke, and the frame is bent to hell. MI sucks.

I have a torsen on order with a local guy...said he'll call me on the first car that comes in...so a couple of weeks...hopefully it wont be to long. On a side note, I wish my W2 would come in already so I can get that tax stuff back :) |
