I think I'm going to buy a NB OR An Insight
I've decided its either going to be a NB or a Honda Insight for my DD.
Prices are finally down on both where its right in my range. Namely little birdy came by to tell me about a 01' with torsen for something that rhymes with Rive Rand. The insight would just be great, because at 1900lbs and a 1liter 3cyl, it gets 70mpg and some reports of higher (100mpg with hypermiling). Meaning I get 700 miles for a 10.6 gallon tank. Their prices have come down to around 5-6k for a early model (2000-2002 or so). So what do you guys think? |
The NA not reliable enough?
I'd go with the insight personally. |

Sorry to hear that. But yeah, the insight seems to be the most responsible choice if its sole purpose is a DD. The only bad things I hear about them is people complaining about the lack of space but shit, you're coming from a miata. I can't imagine that being a problem.

I've always been interested in the Insight, I wonder why they never got big?

I'd have to say NB given that choice, mainly becuase I think the Insight is ugly. I mean Aztek ugly. Mileage be dammed if I have to be seen in something that looks like that. But that's just me and I DD a 15 mpg quad cab 4x4 full size Dodge truck. YMMV, literally and figuratively.

Personally I'd go with the NB. I'm preferential to sticking with cars/makes/models/engine families/whatever that I already know pretty well. An NB is just an evolution of an NA, and thus it's easy to go back and fourth working on them. Otherwise I'd have to learn a whole new platform, which is fine, just not preferred if not necessary.
"Necessary" would be defined as "offering something that I need/really want that I can't get with the vehicles I know." Like cargo space. Or extra seats. Or whatever. |
miatas are ghey

Attachment 207047 Attachment 207048 "The object was to build this and as OEM as possible, Meaning it’s not a stripped out race car. The LHT way ! We have tried to cover every angle possible so make this a real streetcar. It has AC (Factory climate control), Power steering (Factory electric), ABS, S2000 cluster (100% operating), upgraded braking and suspension and a much stiffer chassis. We stiffened the whole car by welding extra braces, as well as building a complete sub frame, which ties the whole front together, and course the whole thing is aluminum. The mounts are Honda OEM mounts from various Honda Vehicles so the car is very smooth with no teeth chattering. In fact you can’t feel it idle in the driver seat. Now for numbers, with very little tuning the car is making over 200whp with a very quiet exhaust and tied with a JDM 6 speed transmission accelerates like a rocket. The car feels very tight and has great feel due the extra bracing and a custom alignment. For the gas mileage folks, so far with very little tuning the car has averaged 48mpg with about 60% highway and the rest stop and go. This includes the 7 runs on the dyno. I’m confidant it will break 55+mpg once tuned. With the ability of the Hondata K-Pro we have had the car at 19-1 AF ratio with 40 degree of advance with no issues." |
Dude that's fuckin' awesome^^^
