I wanna learn how to drive like this in the wet

How do I learn that?

Anyone have some in-camera footage of their own driving like this?

I think you need more umlauts in your name, for one thing.

hustler 11-25-2012 08:04 PM

Hoosier wets are a start.

I recommend you move to NE Ohio, pick up a 1973 F-250 (2WD, no positraction), make sure you keep the bed light (no sand bags) and drive through a couple of winters.

Also, change your name to Walter, Rolf or something similar.

Hahaha, thats how I feel every time it rains, my little 165 pirelli's that came with the wheels have absolutely no traction in the rain.

Every time Im in a turn i have to be going under 7 mph, or if I just yank the wheel or blip the throttle my whole rear end flies around. Its fun until your trying to make a light and end up sliding through a divided highway turn on accident...

Braineack 11-26-2012 08:56 AM

i dont have the ballocks for that.

even at 1:40, where he's all like "look, no eyes!"

but im going to assume it helps to drive a car that's that ass end happy even in the dry...

Should have spent your formative years counter steering more.

Or a Z31-300zx with Blizzaks in the Midwest during a few winters.

Looks like me at a wet autoX. Just confidence and be in tune with your car.

gospeed81 11-26-2012 03:40 PM

This is one of the few times where "practice drifting" IS the answer.

Savington 11-26-2012 03:46 PM

Drive a shifter kart in the rain. It will redefine "quick hands" for you.

+1 wet autocross. Cold, wet, NW autocross = very little traction = car control practice with little danger.

I feel like I looked like this this morning. All my mazdas are down and since it was clear and sunny I decided to drive the 911 to work. Well at 6 am all the dew is still frozen on the road and 10 year old hard 315's don't do very well.

Yea...looks like midwest winters on snow tires, just triple the speed.

NA6C-Guy 11-26-2012 09:25 PM

I would imagine a well balanced/tuned suspension would be a really important start.

Nah brah, ebay suspension with unknown dampening and crappy spring rates, coupled with no suspension travel and 185-50/15 tires would be the best way to practice crashing in the wet.
