If no one minds me asking, why do we all use LC-1s?

Is there some super feature or something that I don't know about or something? Seems like the LC1 is the most finicky, unreliable, nitpicky, most annoying wideband out there.

I know people are running like PLXs and AEMs and shit, so why do we all use LC1s? Serious question.

miataspeed2005 10-17-2010 09:09 PM

I use aem and never had any problems

18psi 10-17-2010 09:11 PM

I use AEM as well.

chriscar 10-17-2010 09:17 PM

If you're running ver 1.1 firmware, back it down to 1.0, it's allot less troublesome.

FRT_Fun 10-17-2010 09:18 PM

I don't run an LC-1. AEM and happy.

webby459 10-17-2010 09:19 PM

I love my PLX. Would get another one.

Savington 10-17-2010 09:21 PM

Fastest reaction time, repeatable, accurate, cheap replacement sensors.

JayL 10-17-2010 09:25 PM

Running a PLX here and wouldn't use a LC1 if you gave it to me.

aug 10-17-2010 09:26 PM

I've used the same PLX on my past three cars-- I love the gauage and feedback

NA6C-Guy 10-17-2010 09:44 PM

I installed an LC-1 for a friend in his RX7 and he had it out and sold within the month. He hated it.

buffon01 10-17-2010 09:56 PM

PLX user here.

messiahx 10-17-2010 10:08 PM

I bought mine because it was cheap. And once in a while, while driving I have to cycle power because the gauge starts blinking like it's just been powered on.

viperormiata 10-17-2010 10:11 PM

Aem

Aricjm15 10-17-2010 10:16 PM

I use the autometer nexus wideband because it matches the rest of my shit. It stays turned off on extended cranks and when the sensor starts to die is does stupid shit and then hangs at 14.7. It seems fairly accurate and is normally within .3-.5 of the wideband on the hydra. I chalk that up to the sensors being in different locations though.

Joe Perez 10-17-2010 10:26 PM

I had an AEM originally. Never liked it. The display was both slow and jumpy (a hard thing to achieve) and the analog output seemed to drift in and out of calibration.

Changed it out for an LC-1 about a year and a half ago. Very pleased with it.

y8s 10-17-2010 10:54 PM

under 200 new with gauge from amazon is probably part of it.

rider384 10-17-2010 10:56 PM

AEM Eugo is under 200 too, it's only like 20 bucks more than the LC1.

SKMetalworks 10-17-2010 11:04 PM

What savington said, fastest reaction time with the readouts.

chicksdigmiatas 10-17-2010 11:22 PM

That is where my wb came from. It kinda Rocks.

sportage4x4 10-17-2010 11:49 PM

never had any luck with LC-1s. just had another one (1.1 firmware mind you) go out for lunch and never punch back in.

my techedge has never given me any problems. much more stable output vs the LC1 and same cheap sensor. I normally use 2J techedge units when the customer can wait, if we are in a hurry we usually just order up an LC1, and regret it later on.

sjmarcy 10-17-2010 11:57 PM

Whether a product is good or bad is nearly irrelevant, many just follow what others in a forum do...

18psi 10-18-2010 02:02 AM

aem uses the same 40 dollar bosch sensor as the lc1

Reverant 10-18-2010 02:05 AM

1) Fast reaction time
2) 2 programmable outputs
3) Digital connection to the PC to verify results
4) Gives out obvious error codes when something is wrong. Cable is broken/worn/cut? You'll get an error code. Sensor has gone bad or is overheating? You'll get an error code.
5) Can be daisy-chained to other Innovate dataloggers - in fact, I have 4 LC-1s and an LM-1 on my car (and a couple of other shit too - TC-4, LMA-2, LMA-3, DL-32, see my sig)
6) Cheap
7) Easy to install if you simply follow the instructions.
8) ACCURATE

Techsalvager 10-18-2010 02:23 AM

Use a AEM
But if I were to buy a new one it would be though www.14point7.com

Dust 10-18-2010 06:57 AM

got a 14point7 on the way now. Sensor is $51 at advance auto parts, and with the P20 coupon the sensor picked up will be $30something dollars

# 20% off with code P20
# $25 off $60+ with code BIG25
# $30 off $75+ with code BIG30
# $50 off $200+ with code BIG50

You dont like the refresh rate of the AEM gauge?! lolz. Not to mention how ugly it looks.

it's a different connector and they are harder to source.

ScottFW 10-18-2010 11:38 AM

I bought the LC-1 mostly because it's cheap, accurate, fast, and has the dual programmable outputs. It's been on the car for 2.5 years and the only time it gave me trouble was when the display froze up from the sensor overheating during a track session. That's kind of my fault since I had it in the stock location in the OEM downpipe with no heat sink. When the turbo goes on it will be much farther downstream and will also have a copper plate heat sink, so I don't anticipate any trouble. I've been really happy with it overall.

jtothawhat 10-18-2010 11:52 AM

I run a AEM no problems, I like it.

arctct 10-18-2010 12:38 PM

AEM; no issues or complaints.

Braineack 10-18-2010 02:01 PM

so you like your ugly gauge and slow ass refresh speeds and shitty conversion into megasquirt?

elesjuan 10-18-2010 08:15 PM

It was cheap and I Like buying pieces of shit...

rbluemx6 10-18-2010 08:27 PM

LC-1 problems = user error

I've had mine since 2006 and its been on two cars. Currently on my miata. Runs great on the original o2 sensor.

Cococarbine3 10-18-2010 11:04 PM

No problems here for 6mo. It was cheap, easy to install, and I like the adjustable refresh speeds and outputs. I'm using a $6 voltmeter for a gauge also.

Yes, I do. Point? :ky:

Braineack 10-19-2010 11:01 AM

that i HATE you.

TurboTim 10-19-2010 11:27 AM

I run the non-gage type AEM on my miata (obviously communicates with my AEM EMS fine) and the gage type in my subaru (serial out communicates with romraider fine). Gage type is limited to displaying 11.0:1 max rich though, that sucks.

I love you.

Is the refresh rate issue only for the display? Or for the input to the MS as well?

Also don't see the issue with the conversions in MS... if you are talking about the one time edit in the file...

Braineack 10-19-2010 11:50 AM

both.

Efini~FC3S 10-19-2010 01:29 PM

I've had a PLX m300 for years, have had it on multiple cars and it's currently waiting to go in the next turbo car. Never tried the LC-1.
