DD for the Wife.

I was gonna troll post, but ended up with this: a legit question.
My parents have 2 of them, and selling one. I would get a good deal, obviously.

2013 Lexus CT200H F-Sport with 3k miles.

To replace her current 2010 Prius with every single bell/whistle (solar roof, moon roof, leather everything, power everything, navi, back up camera, bluetooth, smartkey, plasmacluster ac, heated seats, etc etc etc. too much crap to list)

Troll posts to buy some retarded gas guzzler or crap bucket will be ignored.
Kthxbi

I was going to say that I heard those are just priuses at the heart with Lexus Swag thrown in the mix. But since it's replacing a prius...

I'd buy one if it was a great deal. Not top of my list but not a bad choice for a good mpg DD.

18psi 01-18-2015 01:34 AM

Yep - it's got a prius engine, and I think even chassis (not sure). Re-done suspension, a WHOLE lot more sound deadening, plushness, and basically "Lexus swag"

And it looks a whole lot less gay :giggle:

But really, we love our prius. Like for serious. And not because we're "tree huggers" or hippies or any of that crap. I could care less about pollution.

Kinda curious to hear everyone's opinions on this tho: if you were in the market for something in this category, would you lean toward another car? I guess that's what I'm wondering about.

Yup, same chassis I believe but the sound deadening and luxuries are what would sell me.

My parents owned a prius and it wasnt a bad car. My concern was the recommended expensive battery replacement maintenance after 100k ish miles. But it seems like no one does that and it doesn't affect the mpgs at all.

Unless its about the fuel economy there are better cars out there for sure. We just picked up a 335i. 300+ Hp stock, yet driven mildly nets good fuel efficiency.

I put a JB4 on it which can further improve fuel efficiency but also performance- car now has 400hp and is a hoot.

Lexus makes awesome, reliable cars no doubt. But I'd be looking at an IS/ GS/ even and older LS first.

paNX2K&SE-R 01-18-2015 08:55 AM

I'd hit it.

Stealth97 01-18-2015 09:47 AM

I have a 2014 Prius, it's awesome but I really need more room for my kids stuff, hauling engine parts, etc. The CT200h looks awesome, I would go for it. I did not realize they had the same engine though.

MartinezA92 01-18-2015 11:20 AM

Yea it is pretty much a prius v.

Well... That thing sucks. Bigger heavier and less MPG...

Ryan_G 01-18-2015 02:04 PM

I think they look great. The inside looks a whole lot more upscale than any prius I have sat in. I would probably commute with one.

Reverant 01-18-2015 04:08 PM

I was considering one but only used, since new is $$$$$.

turbofan 01-18-2015 06:08 PM

No. Hell no. Run away no.

But for you and your wife? Sure. I just couldn't drive something that absolutely gutless. But I'm sure the comfort is great and the MPG are great. I'd go Mazda 3 or GTI/Golf.Bit smaller though.

Girz0r 01-18-2015 07:41 PM

Heavier prius? :dunno: eh.

Why not a different lexus?

Ben 01-18-2015 09:12 PM

Since it's an inside deal, absolutely. Buy it cheap, use it a few years while the market price catches up to what you paid, then sell it at break-even. Free car for a couple years.

concealer404 01-18-2015 10:30 PM

I like these. As an upgrade to a Prius. Absolutely.

this appears to be the situation with our current prius too: we got a deal on it, and I'm cruising CL and 3 years later comparable year/miles/trim are still going for exactly what I paid.

Not bad

see that's the thing: with a car like this, there is no need for guts. like, at all. my wife could care less about the car being faster, and when I drive it it's always with wife and son in the car, and I'm not about to speed or drive fast or crazy with them, ever.

our "other" family car is a 320wtq '13 wrx, about to become 400wtq in the very near future ;)
it's got the guts you are looking for :D

because good deal

but also because it's a compact hatchback, which provides quite a bit of room and utility, while being really small in exterior dimensions.
This is not the case with other Lex's. Also it takes 87, oil changes are every 10k miles, and doesn't need pretty much anything else for the next 100k, and that includes brake pads.

Trust me, I used to scoff at hybrids, and in the past 5 years or so have had my views completely changed by actually owning a few.

y8s 01-19-2015 09:38 AM

tell me about the interior space compared to the prius. I hear the CT is teenie, especially in the rear.

Also: corolla lyfe.

Girz0r 01-19-2015 10:24 AM

Ah, If you're able to profit off the old and get a great deal on this then by all means ;) DOIT! Especially if the up keep costs are low.

Same here. My wife got a 1 year old Prius in 2005, because $15k less than what they were selling for at the time. I wanted to hate it, then realized how great of a DD it was. Miata brethren were even calling me stupid for getting it. Now I have two haha

the "trunk" and rear seats are definitely smaller. so yeah, that part is true actually.
you can still put them down and have plenty of space, but not as much as the prius. It's weird: even though the prius "tapers" more in the back, it is actually still huge inside, while the CT seems to "keep the roofline high" like a true hatchback, and yet is smaller.

lol
