I'll be in San Diego the week of Thanksgiving with a few days to myself, what to do?
My mom's boyfriend lives out there in Del Mar, so I'm going out the Sunday before Thanksgiving so I'll have a few days and his car to roam around and check some stuff out.
The Zoo is very high on my list, obviously some brewery tours and food. Anything else I should check out whilst I'm there? |
Go kayaking in La Jolla.
I did it on new years eve a few years ago and it was amazing. |
The Wild Animal Park (or, I think they call it the Zoo Safari Park now) is worth going to as well. It's a pretty different experience to the main Zoo.

Yep, zoo, wild animal park, sea world is close and pretty cool too.
Even just driving around SD was enjoyable for me. |
When I had a free day in SD early last year I rented a Porsche Boxster from Hertz and spent the day driving some of the awesome roads East and Northeast of the city.
The 1 day rental was fairly expensive, but it made for an awesome day of driving, beating the piss out of "the worlds fastest car". |
how much was it? just curious.
|
^Yeah, that sounds interesting!

Hookers and blow. You can just waste the rest of it.

I think the total came out to $260ish. I am a Hertz Gold member and had a corporate rate, but I don't think that changed the price though. They had Caymans but it was quite a bit more, and having the top down was nice. It's funny how much differently they treat you when you go to pick up your Porsche rental as opposed to a Prius... It was a lot of money for a 24 hour rental but it was an awesome day, I found some amazing roads and views, and I totally didn't regret spending the money one bit. It was a base model with an AT, but it was still heaps of fun. |
La Fiesta in Gaslamp Quarter. Go eat there. Drink lots of tequila.
|
I used to live across the street from Balboa park.
Honestly, San Diego isn't all that remarkable unless you live there. As a tourist, I think it may be a little boring. The relaxing everyday life is sure nice though. Gelato Vero has decent espresso, and excellent gelato. They go well together. The Smoking goat has fries cooked in duck fat that are incredible. Sushi restaurants are everywhere. Fish tacos are everywhere. La Jolla is my favorite place to go kayaking. You can rent them and go paddle around with the seals. Hillcrest has a ton of vintage clothes shops and sex toy outlets. |
I'll be in San Diego on.... Saturday. Flight arrives at 9:30AM, buying a vehicle in Oceanside, then heading to Phoenix for dinner.
Oceanside to Phoenix is same time on the 10 and the 8, so... anyone in SD want to grab a quick (and it needs to be quickish, i need to be en route to phoenix by 1 at the latest) lunch? |

Hell the german beer hall has communal seating along with sausage and amazing duck fat fries. Along with at least 1/2 dozen other places downtown. :likecat: *insert hate that people don't realize the eating/drinking culture that Tulsa actually has* |
We had delicious mexican breakfast. Good enough for me. :giggle:
