Im not sure I believe this

I was expecting the local news to call the scam, but they say it saves 61 percent gas

None of their math is correct.

whats not right 9 mpg to 23 mpg thats pretty impressive

Once done, we found that even with an oil change, clean air filter and proper tire pressure, we were averaging roughly 9.4 miles to the gallon.

We then ran our truck on the street for close to a month with the Hydro-4000 running. The owners said this would give the device time to clean out the engine. We then put our vehicle back on the dynamometer, and did the same test all over again.

And guess what? With the device on, we were now averaging 23.2 miles to the gallon. That's 61% better than the gas mileage we were previously getting.

We also road tested the device. There we averaged 16-point-one miles to the gallon, which is 58% better than before.
23.2/9.4 = 247% ≠ 61%

16.1/9.4 = 174% ≠ 58%

Braineack 05-08-2008 01:09 PM

your car will still inject the same amount of fuel....

SamS 05-08-2008 01:10 PM

Everyone knows that hydrogen pushes the fuel back into the injectors.

cjernigan 05-08-2008 01:12 PM

Holy crap, $2k for a PVC tube with stainless plates and wire stuck in it. Oh and a filter.

gman3 05-08-2008 01:12 PM

i guess the fuckin news station is smokin some good shit down here cause yeah the numbers are wrong.

But this wasnt an ad for the hydro 4000. It was the news

y8s 05-08-2008 01:40 PM

from the scam-o-tron's own website:

The theoretical maximum efficiency of electrolysis can be as high as 80-94%. This maximum considers the total amount of energy absorbed by both the hydrogen and oxygen. These values only refer to the efficiency of converting electrical energy into chemical energy (combustible gasses). The energy lost in generating the electricity is not included. If, however, electrolysis is accomplished using an underutilized electrical source that already exists (the excess, unused capacity of an automobile alternator, for instance), high efficiency can be routinely achieved. Moreover our HYDRO-4000 has a unique process that produces much more hydrogen than any other process.
and the conversion from mechanical to electrical is <100% so it takes more energy to make hydrogen than the hydrogen produces. surprise.

incidentally 80-94% is the exact number in wikipedia.

I bet they either pre-filled that shit up with hydrogen or used battery power for the dyno run.

and 9mpg wtf.

Braineack 05-08-2008 01:53 PM

didn't mythbusters try to make a hydrogen cell run off a 12v car battery...granted they tried to run the car solely on the hydrogen...not "hydrogenated" water.... :jerkit:.

in therory, it would just be like water injection. car might run a tad lean and get it more power....but all in all, the same fuel would be used....possibly 1% savings if more power throughout since more power. right?

cant wait till the hydro-4000 has 4000 hydrolocked engines under their belts.

TV stations accept money to advertise, guess what, maybe this is the next step...

I can guarantee you there will be a big run on Hydro 4000s in Palm Beach County after this telecast. Mr Hydro has got to be very happy right now

icantthink4155 05-08-2008 02:26 PM

how can that thing get 9.4 mpg!?

Vashthestampede 05-08-2008 02:36 PM

The farm I worked at was actually in preparation to make our own bio-diesel. They sent me to a presentation on it at Farm Aid and it was a fucking joke. I was taking notes and listening best I could, but everyone was basically telling the guy he was a fucking idiot. When it comes down to it the amount of actual bio-diesel used across the world was something like less than 1%. I have my notes somewhere, but when I brought my information back to the farm, we decided that is was NOT worth making our own shit for a tractor, lawnmower, and farm truck.

The only big thing going on right now worth saving you money at the pump are the hybrid cars. The guy that owned the farm had a prius, his wife drove the yukon denali or the big ass lexus. I never let them brainwash me into their half assed enviro scheme they had in their heads. There was alot of hypocrisy at that place....

its pretty cool how it autotunes the fuel ve tables for you. Once again, something that MegaSquirt can't do.

I know a guy who builds drag cars in Ennis, TX at his dairy farm. They use all the cow shit through an on-site fermenter thingy and provide power to the farm and something like 50 other homes and another smaller farm in their area.

Veggy oil or an efficient old ass car are the way to go right now. JohnWag (lurker) is about to switch over to the veggy oil thing in his company car and hold on to that cash. Every penny saved is another penny toward that caviar and cris. You hataz really need to stfu before you find yourself in the back of a Hearse.

They ended up going with solar power in the end, that was after I left. I'm for the environment.....obviously, I was becoming a farmer. I don't however agree with enviro nut jobs though....they are just as bad as religious nut jobs. IMO of course. :)

People can do whatever the fuck they want, but you should practice what you preach....:fawk:

you quit a job because they went solar?

biodiesel is great if you can get the fry grease for free, otherwise it's a pain. and i certainly dont eat that much bacon.

Quit the job because I lived on the farm, worked 7 days a week on the farm, and did both with my gf at the time. Lasted about 1 year before I went out of my mind!

That was the plan, was to get the grease from local places. But in the end, the amount of effort it was going to cost to make bio-diesel for a new holland, old state mower, and the farm truck (with farm plates that have SO many restrictions), it wasn't worth it.

They just wanted to do something that made them look good. I must have mentioned it before, my boss, sold his cut of priceline.com. He was one of the original 50/50 partners. These people were fucking LOADED....

My SV650 cost ~ 1/4 of a Prius, and gets far better mileage while doing 0-60 in 3.7 sec.
