This Is Impossible Or Is It???
Okay to start off this thread Ive worked at a few restaraunts in the past few years, some I would call 4 star, but never fast food. So someone tell me how this works? Okay a week ago me and my roommate went to Wendy's to eat. And I was looking at the menu for what to order, and I notice a sign next to the burger area, and this sign says patties are "Fresh Never Frozen". So Im thinking how the hell is this possible for beef to be never frozen and still be good. Every restaurant I have worked at they have always been frozen patties that you throw on the grill. So next I ask the cash register lady If this is true and she Is like "Are you Kidding Me beef has to be frozen at some point in time" So I'm like your telling me that your advertisement is a lie? She replies "Um no let me go get my manager" So he comes up to the front and I'm like "So your patties are never frozen Ever and at any point in its life as a hamburger patty" His response is "That's correct". So I start to think do they really receive thawed out hamburger every 3 to 4 days? Also Thought I should note that I'm certified in Food Sanitation and Storage/Handling in the state of IL. Next thing I ask is Where do you store the patties if they are not frozen? He replies in the freezer, so I say your telling me that there not frozen but in the freezer. He says that's what I said (with a smart ass attitude at that) then we went back and forth for about 5 more minutes, about how this is possible and he gives me no definitive answer. Then I just left and didn't eat there. So does anyone on here know how this can be advertised as "Fresh NEVER emphasis on NEVER Frozen when I think it clearly is frozen at some point. Maybe Shipping, Storage? Sorry for this being so random but it just puzzles me??? :hustler:

LMAO!! I would of loved to be there to argue on your side!! OMG thats Funny

I worked at fast food joints many years ago. I saw the Wendy's commercial about never frozen not too long ago and said the exact same things. How can they got the meat to the store and sell it in those quantities and never freeze it? I don't really think it's possible. But they are not as bad as Papa Johns who use to have a commercial bragging about their "Fresh canned sauce" WTF is "fresh canned sauce" once it's canned, it's no longer fresh.

They probably have a two stage freezer. With the volume that they sell they might see deliveries every other day. You can put 40 cases of patties in a freezer and they won't freeze for a day or two.
I used to manage a Steak n Shake... cough. Anyways, I had patties delivered twice a week. Number of boxes determined by an average of the past 6 years of sales records plus 10% and factoring in any variables (say four years ago sales were down due to power outages I would throw out that figure) and I would imagine that the typical fast food burger place sells more than SnS. |
be more concerned with where the meat comes from and what's put into it, not that it's frozen.
I'm sure they operate on a Just In Time schedule and get deliveries nearly daily like pat said. and they can store it at near-freezing temps for qiute a while. |
it was a printer error. they transversed the words. it meant to read "Frozen Never Fresh".

I don't know about their burgers, but I can knock a rhinoceros dead in its tracks after eating their chili.

WENDYS sucks anyway you look at it.
Why the fuck would you make a SQUARE BURGER with a ROUND BUN? I'll eat the peanuts out of your shit if you can prove that they have (edit: SERVE) FRESH PATTIES! |

You've never bought ground beef at the store? They had to transport that all over before selling it. Same deal. (Not that I know how they operate, but not frozen is a real possibility)
I used to work at Papa Johns. The deal with the sauce is it's picked, processed and packed on the same day with all ripe tomatoes. So it's "fresh" when it's canned vs. others that used pre-processed ingredients. It's a little misleading, but not a lie. |
I was a 15 year old freshman when I took a Job at the Wendy's (almost) across from the highschool. I worked there less than a week, when they demanded that I quit football and work up there more. Well, I quit Wendy's instead.
The "fresh never frozen" is kind of a matter of semantics. The burger patties are kept in a freezer, but aren't hard frozen. Pat is correct; they're not in the freezer long enough to actually freeze. But they're almost frozen, and would freeze if left in for a little longer. I don't know how many of you guys have a higher end refrigerator in your kitchens. The very bottom drawer in my KitchenAid fridge is a meat door. It has its own temp and humidity controls, and draws air in from the freezer side. Kind of the same concept; it keeps the meat super cold, just on the verge of freezing. But not frozen. |
