not saying its the BEST sport car, but it is the cheapest exotic, and still 20k cheaper than the z06....put that into the car just to bring up the value to the z06 and lets ee who wins lol.......<- i know you can say that about every car lol

But the real question is... (well, heres what a vette owner would say in an argument:) But if you put that much $$ into an Elise, would you get your money back in resale like the vette? [/Remove Stick / head from ass]

I agree though. Personally I've always been the one rootin' for the underdog, and I'm all about spending less on the platform and more on mods.

they were actually first designed to imitate some of the european cars the troops liked after returning from wwii. i know one of the original designers was european, but i forget his name.

i'm by no means an american car guy, but i'll give credit where credit is due. chevy has a good thing going. shame they can't get it right with the rest of their lineup.

Harley Earl was a major designer in the beginning of the project and helped create what people were looking for in a sporty looking car. Sales weren't really great in the following years, Then along came Zora Arkus-Duntov, a soviet automotive designer who said, "hey, lets take this new 265 v8 and stuff it into this bad boy." Here we are today!

What, don't like these fantastic wonderful looking pieces of shit??

Their entire lineup is a joke. Cheap plastic looking pieces of shit, and they all look identical. Lets not forget about the sky/solstice reliability problems... :bowrofl:

C6 Z06 in stock form is nearly unbeatable for the $$$, a few tweaks and it's just sick. If it were my moolah, I'd have a C6 Z06 in the driveway with some simple intake and exhaust bolt-ons. A friend of mine had a full exhaust and a cold air intake installed on his C6 Z06, with a dyno tune it put down 510rwhp and gets almost 30 mpg on the highway if he's not getting on it.

Ring times are nice for a ballpark but their are far too many variables. Heck, if the driver lost 0.05 (half a tenth) a second on every other corner -which is easily possible... Thats a difference of a handful of seconds.

Face it, the GTR is a quick car. I think the R&T article was a joke as I know personally the Z06 and 911TT can do better than a 2:02, but to say the GTR is a slow car is downright wrong. Especially with 480whp (not CRANK) as many cars have dynoed with 470+whp, even with 3,800lbs the car is no slouch.

We can continue with the slander and bench-racing as i'm sure everyone who posted has never driven the car.

I'm no GTR-faboy either. Its a fun car, quick, little over-glorified, but nothing should be taken away from it.

can you spot all 7 GTRs? (not all are R35s)

yep...6 are r35's and 1 is a r32

--i think the gtr is over-glorafied but i would say that the vette is too...looking at the specs i think the vette would have the advantage on a straight line run...duh!...lighter, way bigger motor(keep in mind that motor comes close to 10,xxx because of the internals) but who's to say that the internals that the vette is stock or unmodified...im just saying that the internals in that thing is already top notch, what really can u do to change out the internals to make huge hp gains, besides adding forced induction?...and same goes for the gtr but i feel that the gtr is heavy due to the awd and being able to have 4 passengers and not just 2 and much harder to make whp because of load....i know the list goes on and on but if i won the lotto i'll just buy both of them because both have different characteristics...

--besides the vette is what a true american car should be...fast, clean, and almost god like...

just my .02 cents

Either way the new Z06 is a sweet machine, and used ones will be dirt cheap (read: very affordable) within 3-4 years, unlike imports like the NSX which you'll never find under $20k unless it's got like 350k miles on it.

The GT-R can't be compared to the NSX, it's a whole different ballgame. The NSX was underpowered even in its early years, and it got even more underpowered as the years went by.

Regardless, if I could pick, I'd rather haven a blue R34, that car just looks sweet.
