This does not surprise me at all.

To me, it's a matter of "I don't give a fuck". I use both FF and IE8 and utilize about 0% of the extra features of either browser. I get on the internet, do my shit and that's it.

Some browsers allow an "Identify As Browser-Name" or "Mask As Browser-Name" option. This can help with sites that are more or less compatible with particular browsers, or for other reasons. For instance Opera allows you to do this on a per site basis via right-click selections.

Mac's are more expensive. Smarter people usually make more money.

My conclusion is that if you use multiple browsers, the scores are additive.

Apple stuff is mostly expensive going in, the float so to speak. The devices tend to hold up well and have excellent resale value so then you get back all or most of what you put in. School systems with Macs and PCs find that the support staff needs to be very heavily biased towards the PCs. If you do an OS update…the hair pulling tends to be minimal. And the last two big OS changes cost 30 bux for the only (loaded) version.

Example. I pay about 30-50 a year to always have the latest iPod Touch. The high resale of the old one gets me into a new one with many improvements for next to nothing. It's worth it. And the migration is utterly painless and fast. A comparably priced or capable higher end mp3 player would not fair as well.

If I sold my MacBook Pro, it will have gone down less in price than my sister's much less expensive HP laptop. PC devices tend to be nearly disposable from that POV, and use lesser quality more quickly wearing materials and designs. Two weeks from new and things are coming loose, the hinge is creaking, ugh.

I'm glad I switched. There is just so much less hassle.
