Gf and I both play an online game where if they see two people using the same IP they assume your cheating and ban you. So is there anyway to modify my IP address on my laptop on the wireless network? I know all about proxys and that wont work. I have access to the router config.

Not that I know of. The IP that the gaming server sees is coming from your modem, which your ISP assigns.

Although im sure theres a way to use a proxy, I've heard of SSL/tunneling your connection through proxy servers but I don't have a list of those servers on hand. (It was once popular to do a couple years back for games like WoW when ISP's would slow your packets)

 

Contact them and explain you are behind a router that is using NAT. You are not in a unique situation.

One solution is to talk to your ISP and get more than one IP address, or send the GF packing.

Send one computer through a proxy or VPN to a friends terminal and tunnel out.. search "free proxy"..done

 

There is nothing better than having a girlfriend participate in some of your hobbies...so you can have sex, and then have something else to do afterwards.

My IP address is different than my roommates and we are on a router...though, I'm not exactly sure how this **** works.

Yeah my local is diffrent, external is the same and thats the problem.

 

If it's a game where low latency is important, you're going to need a second IP from her ISP or use a neighbor's wireless network (as long as they don't play the game too). If you can play the game on a 56k modem, you'll be ok with a proxy or creating a tunnel to a friend's computer.
