hey everyone, lets give up 3/4 of our music for this!!

Braineack 09-05-2007 02:14 PM

i wonder how easy those bitches scratch?

Loki047 09-05-2007 02:16 PM

I cant wait till someone hacks it and I can make it into a remote control for my home media room :)

Once that bad boy gets GPS or bluetooth i would have it in my car.

Ben 09-05-2007 02:17 PM

a friend of mine (who works at best buy) already has one. traded his 80G vidoe for it :td:

I have a 8gb nano, which I only have because it was free. it's kind of neat, but I really fail to see the fascination in these things.

Loki, you did read about that kid who hacked the i-phone right? Someone gave him a car for it--350Z I think

Loki047 09-05-2007 02:21 PM

Yeah but it requires soldering, supposedly a software version will go for sale when Apple stops treahting lawsuits. COngress needs to wise up. This AT&T monoply shit is happening again.

Braineack 09-05-2007 02:30 PM

dont be such a pussy. make your own.

m2cupcar 09-05-2007 02:39 PM

flux core ftw! :pitlab:

there she is my home made iphone

m2cupcar 09-05-2007 03:12 PM

 tell me it fits in your pocket

MX_Eva 09-05-2007 03:36 PM

It may not fit in his pocekt...but it is a mobile device.

Newbsauce 09-05-2007 03:44 PM

The IPhone has some special type of glass that REALLY resists scratching. Its not like that cheapo shit that verizon has on their phones. I was pretty impressed by it.

The IPhone itself sucks because of the AT&T service. That and all its apps are web based.

As for Apple IPods, they too are the suck. They are proprietary bullshit. I have had a Sandisk Sansa, and a random generic player from BestBuy like this one:
http://www.walgreens.com/store/produ...2855107#review
99 bucks for 4GB plus u can add miniSD

I highly recommend the sandisk Sansa 8GB + miniSD- 130
and I am a bit intrigued by the Microsoft Zune 30GB which just dropped its price to 199.

Loki047 09-05-2007 03:45 PM

well the reason these are ognna be good is because now they are handheld computers and you can do wheatever you want.

brgracer 09-05-2007 03:47 PM

I find more "interesting" the fact that they dropped the price of the expensive iPhone by $200! Considering that they are still making money at the lower price, they had a crazy profit margin on the original units sold.

Stupid trivia, does anyone know why so many small electronics (and other tech/guys items such as golf clubs) are priced around $299?

Loki047 09-05-2007 04:00 PM

no, but manufacturing is coming down in price and the technology isnt that different from the iphone, margins are smaller, but greater numbers

Loki047 09-05-2007 04:17 PM

let me see that phone. and does it have Wifi?

shuiend 09-05-2007 04:55 PM

I am more interested in the 160gig ipod classic. Finally enough space for all my mp3's.

y8s 09-05-2007 05:07 PM

i would spend $600 on a 3G bluetooth wifi iphone with 100 gigs of storage.

because shit, why not?

but to not have my cake or eat it is just bogus.

hustler 09-05-2007 05:21 PM

I'd take one too, though i'd be happy with 60GB i suppose.

Wifi, bluetooth, audio, video, etc, etc.... the day is comming when people will just buy sim cards and fuck the service company out of the phone sales.

Ben 09-05-2007 06:47 PM

Come on man, it's up to you. Give us an MS-Phone

Pitlab77 09-06-2007 10:00 PM

Free shuffle FTW :)

cjernigan 09-06-2007 11:42 PM

Free shuffle?

drewbroo 09-07-2007 06:31 AM

You can get knock off IPODS here in UAE for less than 100USD. Complete with no DRM, and no crappy apple software. It just looks and does all the same things as an ipod, just better. 2gigs for $37, 4 for $62 and a 30 gig for 95USD. Of course no warranty (-=

miataspeed1point6 09-07-2007 07:08 PM

I love my ipod nano. Just pop the cd in the computer, plug in the nano and then walk away. I HATE the radio, so I need an mp3 player. The click wheel is really easy to use.

In the end I suppose any mp3 player would do, but I had a student discount for the nano so I got one.

chuck 09-08-2007 01:42 PM

The biggest plus for the Ipod for me is how it integrates into car stereos. Both my cars have Pioneer head units, with the ipod adapter, so I just plug in, and then can control it from the deck. This is the one and only feature that made me choose the ipod rather than a different MP3 player.

all i really want in my life is a good deal on a treo 755.. eff the new ipod!

Loki047 09-08-2007 08:44 PM

ehh the 755 headphone jack is still shit, (mine brok the first time i used it) and the bt headset options are really shitty and limited. When it does work it eats battery in like 4 hours. when it doesnt your phone will cont restart

nester 09-08-2007 08:52 PM

headphone jack? what's that???? :o

battery life thing sucks, but my 650 is going to die soon, so i need something.

Ben 09-08-2007 09:06 PM

palm is about to release a new phone, very similar to a treo function-wise, but smaller and much cheaper. It's called the centro and is expected to be cost $99. Face it, the treo hasn't really kept up with technology; the 755 isn't far seperated from the 600, except for the better resolution display found in the 650 and newer. So it's not really right that it still costs $300.

i have the palm bluetooth headset (I got the palm one so that I wouldn't have to keep up with a second set of chargers). It sucks. Put it in my miata's center console about a year ago and haven't touched it since.

cjernigan 09-08-2007 09:39 PM

I picked up a motorola BT headset on ebay about a month ago. Only use it when i'm driving. Got it because of the chargers as well, all that small USB connection. They sell for ~$50-60 in stores. Got it for under $20 shipped brand new from Hong Kong, had no idea it was coming from there but didn't mind due to the savings. It works good, and it works with my Macbook perfectly for skype and things of that sort so i'm happy with it. Stepdad upgraded to a KRAZR and gave me his old RAZR. The RAZR is officially the shitties phone ever i hate it. I like phones in SLVR form more, flip phones suck the nut.

Loki047 09-08-2007 11:45 PM

Ben, the difference between the 600 and 755p is the software. 755p works with exchange servers on every level. Activesync works with calendar, email, contacts all the goodies.

nester 09-09-2007 12:15 AM

I just want a 700 or 755 for the faster data transfer.. i am stuck in the stone age with the 650..

I have a 650 now, with activesync.
I had to buy a program to get my 600 to work with the exchange server. It worked fine, but didn't sync automatically on a schedule like my 650 does.

Still, that's not really enough to justify 3 years worth of development, is it?

Loki, how much faster is your 755's web browsing? Is it really "broad band like" as they claim?

nester 09-09-2007 11:06 AM

the 700wx is much faster than my 650

Loki047 09-09-2007 07:28 PM

its alot faster, the problem is the memory in the treo. The internet is way faster than the phone. Its nice for stuff like googlemaps.

Ben 09-09-2007 09:28 PM

i have a couple friends with the windows mobile based palms. they both say it's love/hate, as it's a neat interface but they expect to have to restart it at least twice a day.

Loki047 09-09-2007 10:26 PM

Yeah i played with it (coworker and he loves it) I find it overly graphic without real advantage to functionality

TonyC 09-10-2007 04:52 PM
