I don't, but what car are you using and what are your times at LRP?

1:05 is a reasonably fast lap. I was cutting 1:06s in my turbo at the end of last year, lack of confidence in my shocks slowed me, especially through the downhill.

I'm sure you know already, but some track discussion. Obviously, the exit out of West Bend is everything. Any real car should be able to take the downhill flat (my turbo couldn't), just make sure to be way inside on the apex of the downhill so that the crown in the track works to your advantage, car loads up nice there.

Interesting, I was taught two lines through Big Bend. The one day Skip school had us braking in a straight line past all the braking markers, then turning in pretty late, definitely past the walking bridge. OTOH, I think a quicker line was taught later in my schooling. Brake where you need to, maybe start between 5 and 4, or even later, and trail brake while turning in at the 2 brake marker, a bit before the walking bridge, iirc. Turns 1 and 2 then become like a big sweeping double apex. At the exit of 2, you should be able to line right up with the women's pisser in the infield, if they have such features in the game.

Last thing, the left hander is a throwaway, keep it left on the exit to get a nice entry into 4 and onto No-Name. Brake at the tree on No-Name.

Have fun. What's your impression of the track?

After driving it in Iracing I find the track very fun. I also agree with all your points. For the turn after the walking bridge I dont use any brakes I just left a little turn in towards the curb then its full lit. That was where I was getting killed when I first started but now I can run with the big boys lol.

This is the line I follow more or less. I found a great video of a audi prototype doing a lap and the drive voiced over what he was doing and he takes the same line so that was pretty cool to watch. If I find it I will post it. Also I have the HPDE next Saturday cant wait

I was on for a couple months a year ago or so. It was alright, but in order to be competitive I would have needed to buy a 980* wheel, instead of my perfectly good 270* momo wheel. I stuck to gtr amd race '07 which works much better with my current wheel/pedal setup.

I looked at your thread, that car will be a blast at LRP, you can do quick laps with it just as is.

Things that my car with turbo seemed funky will seem pedestrian to you in your car, and the speed will be close. In particular, turn 4, the right out of the esses onto No Name, there is a hump there after the exit. My car liked to unload there on my old setup. Your car will not register the hump, even if you are going fast. The turn 5, uphill complex, will probably not be too challenging in your car unless you enter really really fast. The conventional wisdom is to have the steering wheel totally straight when you crest the uphill, but without tons of power and/or a huge exit speed to t5, it's not too hard. With Skip's MX5 cup cars, even flat out with a pretty fast exit speed, I could tempt death and still be unreeling the wheel while cresting the uphill, albeit with some oversteer. (All of this at your own risk!)

I don't care who you are and what car you are driving, if anyone says that there is not something fundamentally "off" about the whole downhill complex, they belong in an institution. IMO, there may not be a more creepy turn complex on the continent.

There are faster sections of other tracks in the Northeast, like the long straight on Monticello Long, and the esses to the Bus Stop at the Glen. But, they are nothing when it comes to the perception of continued relentless speed like at LRP. Except for the left hander in the esses, LRP is always brutally fast and WOT for big percentages of time. I'm getting horny thinking about it, can I co-drive your car?

HAhaha. Yeah I cant wait it should be a lot of fun. You can co-drive if you come to the event. PM me if you want to set this up. This is my first event so I need all the help I can get. Also thanks for the kind words about my car. I am very happy with the turn out. With the door bars and the roll bar the car feels super solid. And your right about bumps my car just glides over them haha

Very true. I had no wheel and wanted a 900* for the longest so this game pushed me to buy it. That and LFS. I got the logitech drive force GT for a 100 bucks new from bestbuy and it also works with the ps3 so not a bad deal.

Na, man, just kidding on the co-drive. I can't spare the time right now. You are in good hands with NASA/PDA. Just take your time and take out small chunks at a time.

Since the repave, it's not so much about the bumps at LRP as it is about the little rises and bigger crests and dips. If the car is comfortable when it's loaded up and doesn't run out of rebound travel on the crests, it will give you tons of confidence to go fast at LRP. I look forward to running my turbo with the new FCMs on it later this year.

Report back after the event.
