Default Smoking Meat and Brewin Beer!

So I recently purchased the charbroil deluxe electric smoker. Made some wings with different rubs and HEAVENLY FATHER IT IS GOOOOOOOOD! So I am starting this thread so we can talk recipes, cook times, what does and doesn't work, etc!

Second part of thread is brewin beer! I have a kit from Midwest Supplies, two 5 gallon kegs and a keezer. Ever since we moved I have been working on my garage epicness and miata so my wife and I haven't brewed much. We are in Savannah Ga now being tourists so I will update this thread opener with what we have brewed, results, tastes, etc.

So post in here your results with either so I can make my meat taste good for other people and brew some epic *** beer!

Opinion not valid. I can't wait for my propane tower smoker to dissolve in the Hawaii air so I can get an electric one... set it and forget it. Never worry about sun/shade or running low on gas or pushing through a stall or any bullshit when you need to open the door or blah blah. It always goes back to the exact correct temperature quickly... while you watch the game or run to the store or grab your lady for a snuggle at halftime. I've used my buddies electric to infinitely better meat than I've been able to get from my propane one.

Yeah so I have been researching all day and talking with my neighbor who has the Hollow Smoker 38" smoker and it does not seal and uses 1/3 tank of propane for a 6 hour smoke. If I were to brew beer AND smoke meat I would be going to walmart and refilling with propane every weekend. Not cost effective. This smoker you linked is the one I have concluded is the better one. For reference I purchased the Charbroil Deluxe one and it is being returned this week to Amazon because it could not keep or bring back up to temperature. FYI Home depot has them on sale for $135 compared to amazon.

Damn I was going to buy a pellet electric smoker. Now you have me looking at a full electric smoker. What should I buy. I want to set it and forget it, just like my Ronco rotisserie.

I want something small enough to smoke a rack or 2 of ribs, OR a single brisket.

You are using propane, that is just about as bad as using electric. Charcoal and wood master race up in here. I can get my smoker going, and it runs for about 16-18 hours at a constant temp. Basically I set it and forget it until I am ready to pull meat or check the temps.

So I have been researching this ALL weekend after my Charbroil Deluxe electric smoker acted up. I am going to get the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker that was just mentioned above in this thread as it has a few functions I have already found to be to my lifestyle and liking:

1) Can feed woodchips without opening front door - HUGE when you have an electric smoker because unlike propane you wont come up to temp as fast
2) It can handle like 6 chickens, several racks of ribs, etc, etc, - this is plenty for the amount of ppl I would be feeding
3) It has a DOOR LATCH! - that is huge! The Landmann Mountain Smoker or whatever is called has "patented" magnetic drawers (its a magnet stuck on a metal drawer...) - The doors don't seal
4) Sealing/Insulation - Electric smokers have better insulation AND sealing than the propane ones for a similar cost on average - What does that mean smart ***?! That means that you will have to buy some sealant with your propane smoker such as the Smoke Hollow 38 or 44 inch - my neighbor has the 38 and I watched him smoke ribs and a brisket and his doors are not sealing well
5) Chips catching fire - the Masterbuilt 30" Vertical Smoker has a few issues with the design and cheapness you will see all over the internet, but to save you time I won't be buying it. Also the Landmann has a dedicated video from a user and he had to severely modify it to regulate temperature, seal doors, etc.
6) TEMPERATURE REGULATION! - So if you do not have control of a vent then your smoker is garbage and you can get soot on your foot and that is disgusting. My current Charbroil one has two vents...cant open or close them. You lose all the smoke fast and well if you can't side feed or have a two door system you need to refeed chips and BOOM lose heat.
7) I need an electric one so I can smoke on my back patio - versatility if there is rain. Also on sale at Homedepot. $135 vs. $250 for good propane one
8) Depending on who you are factor in weight as well.
