Default This is why I'd want a Datsun...

I was browsing search tempest today looking for a Ducati Monster to kick the crap out of, and I came across this ad:
http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/2824339345.html
What a beauty! There is so much JUNK on craigslist, but this car makes me eat my words.
Do any of you Jersey guys know this car? It says it was tuned by RT tuning in Lansdale. That's where the dyno benefit for Tri State Tuners was last year where Mann laid down 325whp in his NC, and I dyno'd at 225whp.
Click on the link, and I promise it won't be a waste of your time.

The ad is from January 29th, so I assume it's gone, but What a hot car.

There are hundreds more reasons to get a datsun.
Finding one that isn't a complete bucket and for a reasonable amount is the hard part.

Seems like all the deals are either 1000 miles away or are sold fast.

There's a 1966 Datsun 1600 roadster for sale two blocks away from me. Well, it's in pieces, but with a fully rebuilt motor they are asking $500 for it. If only I had the space. So bad ***. btw, this is not a picture of it. Just for reference.

My dad has 4 240z in various states of restoration including one real "Fairlady Z" (an actual Japanese import) with the L20 motor (instead of the L24 in USDM 240s). Once he is ready to give one up I'll be picking it up.

They're only resurrecting the Datsun brand name, not the actual cars.

And they won't be sold in the US or other industrial nations. They plan to apply the marque only to cheap, horrible shitboxes sold to people in "developing" nations. Think Perodua Kelisa or Tata Nano.

No way they'll ever make a car as cool as the original 260Z or 280Z.

IIRC, the owner used to have a pretty sick EG hatch, and seems to be a functioning car guy. Shouldn't be a halfassed car

Dude. For $500, rent a storage unit and work on it when you can.

Very cool Datsun...except I think the body work is a little over the top. Would prefer more of the wedge shape with a big, low air dam personally. The 240z is definitely on my "Cars I would own if I were financially independent" list.
