I've about had it with the rx7 project

finally after over 3 months of waiting I get an engine subframe.

JUST the subframe.

did he send motor mounts? Nooooooooo why in the holy fuck would he send me anything usefull.

He still owes me:
transmission cross member
torque arm
my wiring harness back
driveshaft

meanwhile he has $1700 of my money.

Philip 11-04-2007 01:03 PM

at least the fucking subframe is in. Had I the motor mounts I'd put the engine in also but nooo.

Ben 11-07-2007 11:34 PM

Wow, drawing BIG money. Philip man you need to finish and flip. :)

Philip 11-08-2007 12:23 PM

they dont pull that anymore
that car is clean but realistically I'd expect 18k out of it.

mine, complete, probably 14 tops, maybe even 12 because the chassis is a salvage title.

I think it's two things

#1 market saturation, the people that want one, have one
#2 you can't borrow 27k against that car, so someone has to pay almost all cash

hinson is working on a 350z lsx swap, I'm waiting for an rx8 swap kit, that'll be the next project I hope

the RX8 should not be too difficult thanks to all the development on the FD's

it's quite difficult because the renesis is mounted so far back.

Maybe next week... I'm too grumpy this week.

Philip 11-09-2007 05:03 PM

much to my surprise the mounts showed up today. They're on the block and aside from 3 little things to tie up I'm ready to shove the engine in. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see. Gotta roll the car out in the driveway and need some help pushing the hoist.

Philip 11-09-2007 07:00 PM

nearing? lol
more like nearing the beginning

yes but I'm more worried about getting the engine in and out of my garage so I have room to park a car again

Philip 11-10-2007 05:33 PM

well it's in, bolted to the mount and the trans is safety wired up since I don't have the cross member
been a real bitch working this weekend as I've had a migraine for about 5 days now

to do:

install trans X member and torque arm
wiring harness
fuel system
cooling system
reinstall brake system
install cluch MC

guess that's about it.

I'm kind of amazed I didn't drop the car, the engine, or both on my fat ass.

That's gotta be the shits when your all ready to go and the only thing stopping you from finishing is waiting on parts to come in.

Philip are you gonna put a nice lopey cam in that V8?

Philip 11-12-2007 12:54 AM

no it has a very mild 114LSA cam.
