Jacked up my back

The wife and I decided to go play some tennis tonight. It has been a good 3 months since we last played. Well in one particular set, she executed a perfect return making me run for the ball. Well I lunged, and got a return to the net. I felt something in my back pop, and didn't think any thing about it. We played for another 20 minutes, hopped in the Miata to head home. Has I went to get out of the Miata, I realized that pop was something more. I couldn't get out of the car :( So I rolled out of the Miata, while she tried to help, which didn't, and crawled into the house bent over. Got a heating pad on it now. I would certianly hate to have to crawl into work tomorrow morning.

Maybe I can get them to bring the phone to the Miata, and can work out of it like an office. :D

Getting old sucks. :loser:

This is why I visit my chiropractor often.

Same thing will happen to me if I get really warmed up (soccer etc.), and then cool off quickly when I haven't been adjusted in a while.

Stupid teenager car accident FTL.

I was gonna say its prolly a pulled muscle, this happened in one of my quads the other night while wrestling with the girlfriend on the couch. Still occasionally shoots pain down my leg 4 days later. If it popped, something has gone awry. I'd go to a real doctor, I dont buy chiropractors.

They're hit or miss, but when you find one that knows what they're doing, you can trust them.

It's all anecdotal, but I go to aide back and neck injuries from car and motorcycle accidents(and long hours spent over books), wife goes just for wear and tear from work, and we take my daughter (2yrs old) just because kids have a tough life. It helped her colic when she was younger, and still helps her bowel functions. We know when we haven't been in a while.

Chiropractors have their place. There's nothing like getting a good adjustment to loosen things up. Just don't trust them when they claim to cure lung cancer and shit like that.

If it's back spasms, you should be icing it, not heating it. Ice it for 15 minutes every hour, and Aleve for the pain. I fucked up my back horsing around in a pool at a family reunion, and fortunately my aunt who is a nurse practitioner was there. I followed her advice and was mostly better in a few days. Granted, I was a teenager, and you are not. Good luck. Back problems never really go away. Mine still "talks" to me when I'm lifting heavy things.

I think this is the number two cause of fucked up backs, right behind lifting heavy stuff around the house in a bad way.

We rented an inflateable castle for my neices birthday a few months ago, and I thought it would be a good idea to wrestle with them for a few hours. I could hardly talk the rest of the day, and walking fast was out of the question for a week.

I hardly ever have problems with sports as long as I stretch and cool down well...but I am getting older.

On chiropractors, I once slept on my in-laws couch as we were going to help my brother in law move the next day. I woke up and couldn't see out of my right eye from have neck bent at a 90 degree angle against arm rest. We moved a few things and between the pain and lack of vision I HAD to leave and go get a quick adjustment. Fixed me right up, which was nice because I was REALLY starting to worry.

OP, I know it always hurts even more to injure yourself due to exercise. I hate that once every couple of months when it seems I'm getting into a good workout/activity groove some injury crops up and knocks me out of the fitness kick. I'm realizing that I'm not a teenager anymore, and if I want to stay active into my 60s I've got to find ways to stay injury-free. Get better, and keep movin'.

my back is definately feeling better today. Last night as I lay on the floor watching TV with the wife, her 13 pound cat decided to jump off the counch onto me. If I could have moved faster I might have killed it LOL.

And yes I blame my youth on back issues. At my fathers shop I would regularly lift VW long blocks off the bench, and set them on the floor.

As for exercise, whats that :p This crick in my back won't stop me from playing tennis. Just might hamper my serv a little. :D
