You can't guess where it is? Not a whole lot of room to guess wrong. I used to drive with thick sole steel toe work boots (size 13.5 takes up a LOT of room down there) and did OK most of the time. Every now and then my foot would catch on the brake pedal or something. It was equally fun in my RX7 with a stiff clutch pedal, somehow my toe would always get stuck behind the brake when letting the clutch up.

I don't recall the OP bringing up precision driving. Of course then you would want something other than dress shoes or boots. I'm talking in terms of daily driving like 95% of the time is spent for most people here.

I have Puma Speedcats. Very nice to modulate brakes with.
Since they are trendy 'scenester' shoes you can usually pick them up cheap at urban clothing stores, mine were $40. Or even cheap karate shoes would work.
