Kansas DMV SUCKS!

Just wanted to vent a little bit here as I'm slightly frustrated...

Back in like spring of 2007 I ordered a personal plate for my Miata Juggernaut, "JUGRNOT." Somewhere around the end of 2007 I was in some shitty apartment complex over at 75th and I-35 looking for a friends place I spotted a mid 90s Chevy Suburban with a Kansas Wyandotte county tags reading "JUGRNOT." About six or eight months ago a friend and myself spotted a newer Ford Excursion with a Johnson County Kansas tag reading "JUGRNOT."

Anyway with a last name of Y typically December is when I have to renew tags so this last week I received a letter in the mail from the DMV informing me that by Kansas law you had to register early for the 2010 issued personal plates to come out, since they changed them.. Again. The letter was informing me that Kansas law also specifies that only one unique combination can be had of a plate in the state and mine was found Duplicate. Since I was not the "Original" holder of the plate I'm being forced to forfeit the tag which I chose back in 2000-fucking-7 for something else.

Thanks a lot, fuckbags. I'm tempted to write on the form "JUGRNOT" and send it back to them, along with my attached $45.00.. Maybe I should try and substitute a zero for the "O" and see what they say. :jerkit:

I'm still pissed, but I guess I Feel better after venting.. :makeout:

Pfft..if thats the worst they do to you then you got it easy. I was hit by a semi on the interstate in VA a few years back (yes in a miata, the truck kept going, i got no $$..blh blah blah) ANYWAY..state trooper got there and took my license because it was suspended and wrote me a citation..WTF? Went to DMV the next morning (wreck was on a Sunday morning.) Local DMV says they don't know what's going on with my license, I have to go to the HQ in Richmond (~1.5 hr away) ..ok, so get my mom to drive me up there after three hours they decide it was a "computer error" and all I have to do is pay the $160.00 re-instatement fee to get my license back..yea that didn't happen.

That and I still get bills for registration ans shit on vehicles I haven't owned in years.

/VA DMV rant.

I'd be willing to say Kansas just sucks in general :giggle:

I had a custom tag of I1II1I1 made back in 2003. I had this tag on my 96 Miata but when I got my 99, I just applied for a normal tag because I was broke. Well, in 2006 I went to the tag office to renew my tag and reinstate my I-1 tag. So the lady behind the counter does her thing and renews the tag and I go stick it on my car. Well, the beginning of 2007 rolls around and it's time for me to pay my tags again. I walk in there tell them who I amd and that i'm there to renew blah blah blah. I use an address a few counties over to get around emissions and claimed I never got my paperwork in the mail, so that's why I didn't have my paperwork. So the lady looks at me and says "you didn't pay your tag last year.". What?!?!?! I told her I could go get the tag and show her that it had been paid and whatnot. Turns out that moron at the office the year earlier had renewed the tag TO THE 96 MIATA and didn't transfer the tag information/taxes to my 99 I had at the time!!!! So I had to pay 2 years of tag fees in order to get my new sticker. I argued that I obviously had paid for something the previouis year and that should at least apply and that i'd be more than happy to pay the difference between the 96 and the 99 for the previous year. Nope...wouldn't do it. I couldn't take my time to make 908756 phone calls to bitch because this was the day before the tags were due.

Oh well, i've been screwing GA the past 2 years by listing my address at my parents old house to get around emissions.

those are both bad but i think jersey is up there with them.
Here's a list of things i failed inspection for. its gonna go from normal stuff to ridiculous

1. Emissions
2. Needed to adjust suspension dampening, when asked if it was to stiff or loose, was just repeated that it needed to be adjusted.
3. No horn
4. Because the fat bastard couldn't fit in my car they instant failed me
5. Having a Sparco Sprint Seat, while it was still in spec.
6. No 5spd shift pattern on my shift knob
7. No rubber pad on my clutch pedal
8. Steering being to tight, on a car with no Power Steering.

there's more i just can't think of em.

I'm going to have to agree that NJ sucks the most.

You guys are cursed or something.

I walked into the VA DMV and within 5 minutes was at a window where I received fast, friendly service and got my:
VA driver license
VA title
VA registration for 30 days (so I could do inspections)

Then later that year I got my state safety inspection on a highly modified turbo miata without the guy saying so much as "keep an eye on those brakes" about my wilwoods. It took 10 minutes.

Then over the weekend I spent another 10 minutes getting my emissions inspection. The dude said nothing and I saw him pop the hood. :giggle:

btw, kplafin, fill out about 10 release of liability forms.

I get a letter in the mail, I send it back with a check and in a couple of weeks I get my sticker. Or I could go online when I get the letter, submit my CC info and get my sticker in a couple of weeks.

I think all DMV's suck period.

Last time I went to mine to get a temp plate for the miata a couple weeks ago I knew I would have a problem. Something always has to happen.

So I get in line and got my paperwork, filled it out, went back up and got my ticket, number 45. Ok so they are on 31 or something like that and I just sat my ass down and waited patiently. I wanted to go outside for a smoke, but figured if I did they would rush their way to 45 and skip me. As 44 is called I am getting anxious cause I already have a million things to do so I'm ready to fly up to the counter. What happens? 46 pops up! Son of a bitch!! :vash: I already waited an hour and wasn't about to loose my turn so I stood up saying "fuck this" and rushed the counter. The guy with 46 is approaching the counter as well. I said to the DMV employee "um excuse me, but what happened to 45?". The guy with 46 looks at me like I'm a dick and said "Well I have 46" as he looked up at the number on the digital box. The I said "ok, but 45 comes before 46, and I didn't get called yet". The DMV employee told 46 to go sit back down, that I was next. I told #46 sorry but I don't think he gave a shit, I was still a dick in his eyes.

Not the end of the world situation, but something ALWAYS happens to me at DMV. Last time I went to renew my licence the photo printer broke and that was another hour wait for them to fix it. :vash:

No Front plate, No vehicle inspections, No automotive Nazis, and No Emissions. Think I'm okay with losing my personal plate. Wonder if I could get the 1I1I1I plate, that was pretty brilliant! Does it actually mean anything, or just the hardest thing oyu could come up with for someone to remember?

Wow. And for that, I hope the track goes out of business. Or maybe the cop will get fucked up in a wreck while using a < 2 year old seat belt.

Probably this...so when your doing something illegal its not easy to id you later on....well that is if your car is inconspicuous...mine is pretty easy to spot with the giant black stripe, so I just opted for a fun plate "RU-REDY"...my r32 is "RATED-R"...

I think people use 1I1I1I to confuse people, it's hard to tell what's an I and whats a 1 at 80 mph
personally I plan on getting something like 8B8B88B

Pitlab77 11-02-2009 08:42 PM

at least it just plates.
I paid for my registration sticker with the local TXDOT and a month later I still have no sticker and i've called and b$#$@ them out twice.
