Default Keyboards and mice

So everyday I sit at the computer I get more and more at the keyboard or mouse. I've come close to just throwing the **** at the wall, but I've been there done that.

I need to get myself a ******* nice *** keyboard and mouse set to keep me sane. I really don't care if its wireless, wired, whatever.

Right now I have the logitech MX 3200 keyboard and mouse.

Can you guys please share what you use and what you think about it?

I presently don't have a natural keyboard (wrecked my last one and couldn't afford to buy another, but they are awesome once you get used to them:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...s.aspx?pid=022
And the Razer Copperhead mouse is wicked. Extremely precise, and you can change mouse resolution settings through a button on the bottom. Makes it really versatile.

Stay away from wireless. I tried all kinds of wireless mice and they just aren't as good as wired.

Could you describe the condition that would cause you to want to throw your keyboard and mouse across the room? I've use a lot of keyboard in the course of my work, other than some difference in tactile feel and minor key placement annoyances they all seem to do the same job. What is it that yo are trying to fix with a different keyboard and mouse?

you should go smoke more pot, you seem wound a little tight.

I guess its not so much anything in particular about the keyboard, its more so the mouse. Once in awhile it gets a mind of its own and will stop mid way across the screen, dash across the screen, select something I never asked it to, etc etc. The only real issue with the keyboard is the tabs in the back that make it tilt broke off, so now its only option is to sit flat.

I think maybe the mouse being wireless is the biggest reason why I'm having these issues. So I guess the next set I get will be a wired combo to insure no "mind of its own" tricks.

I'm a high strung type of person for sure. My whole working life I've worked with my hands doing some type of labor. So now having to sit at a computer is ******* killing me when I have to. Sometimes I get the urge to toss something, but usually when I get like that I either a) put on the gloves and hit the heavy bag for 15 mins, or b) pack a fat bowl and smoke some herb.

Am I the only one still using the ole' reliable Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical?

This has been my standard mouse for years. I've probably got a half-dozen of 'em, including a couple still in unopened boxes. (There was a rumor a while back that they were being discontinued, so I hoarded them.)

I have more problems with wired mice having minds of their own than wireless.
On 2 computers in my house, the wired mouse will occasionally shoot to the bottom right corner of the screen. It's bothersome when playing an FPS. Right when you're about to pull the trigger for a headshot, you end up shooting your teammates foot who was standing behind you. Add to that, the chord will always find a way to pull on the mouse after I let go of it, not matter how I route it.

You should want the keyboard as flat as possible if you're typing, it's better for your wrists. I'm actually trying to find ways to tilt my keyboard backwards some.

Another cheaper alternative that I like is the MX 1000 that Jeff pointed out.

I've had this mouse for 6ish years. Ive replaced the left click button twice. They've worn out from use. Also the paint on the left click button is gone where my finger sits. Paided $40ish for it. Besides having to replace worn buttons, it works great.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Natural Multimedia keyboard and mouse combo and it works great. Bought it for $99 years ago and haven't had many issues. Just have to keep fresh batteries in it and keep my phone away from the receiver, which causes the mouse to stop working completely when receiving/sending a text/call. Any other wireless devices on your desk that might be causing interference?

mx revolution. it's got the click-or-freewheel scroller and it's the bomb.

I used to be a Joe Perez and have a couple of the old MS opticals around too. but they've gone yellow and ugly.

keyboard is microsoft digital media pro keyb. it's got volume and itunes compatibility so you can play with music while in other programs.

I have one almost exactly like that one. It cost $5.99 at walmart and has worked amazingly for the past several years.

I've got two MX Revolutions. Never had any issues with either. Charge last forever, outstanding resolution and the tracking is surgically precise. It's not particular about the surface either. I use on the couch (yes right on the couch) with the laptop and it works great.

I use a logitech M505 wireless laser mouse on my Acer Aspire 1. Love it, probably best wireless I have used in a while. On my gaming machine I use a logitech track ball, it is pretty old, and I think I am going to toss it. Here at work we use Dell optical corded mice. They like to dart all over the place, really fun with dual monitors. Mouse pointer disappears and it is hiding in the corner of the other monitor. Wife's computer has the original 7 year old Alienware optical corded mouse that works like a champ. I am pretty sure it is a Microsoft re-badged.

+1 on the mx revolution. Best mouse I've owned.

I'm mostly using a wacom bamboo tablet at home though because after using a regular mouse at work all day I need to change it up at home.

For a keyboard, you can try www.elitekeyboards.com, they sell the old style mechanical keyboards for a more tactile feel.

I own this also. Love it except don't misplace the charge cable cause it's like micro usb or something, not any of the usual 5/4 pin mini usb cables. Still have yet to find a replacement for under 30$.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I wanted to update this thread with today's purchase.

So this morning I am ready to print out a couple shipping labels and the mouse is acting up again. Son of a bitch. It was early, I just got in a fight with the gf last night, and I didnt have time for the mouse to give me ****. I tired replacing the batteries and re-syncing it with the usb ****. No luck.

So before I wasted anymore time ******* with it I destroyed it. lol

Went to the shop and did what I had to do and on the way home I stopped at best buy and picked up the Logitech Performance MX for $79.99. Right out of the box I'm completely happy with this thing. Comfortable, spot on movement, has some nice features (esp the multiple window button), etc.

I didn't destroy the old mouse as extensively shown in the picture at first. Once I plugged the new one in it said the old mouse's batteries were critically low and this icon keeps flashing on the icon tray. I thought maybe the old mouse had a small internal battery or something, so I took a 11lb weight and opened it up. I cant find any battery and the icon is still flashing. WTF. lol
