Some feedback.. Dudi still wont let us pick him up, he mows in pain if you try to lift him up. He seems to be getting thinner but hes still eating so at this point we dont know what to do (neither does the doc). The Dr says that if they try to operate, theres a 75% chance he wont wake up just because of his age so dr says to let him be. They gave us some meds to dry up his lungs to see if there's any change since the dr doesnt know if theres fluid in his lungs. The other meds are to help with his breathing. Dudi was coughing before quite often. He has coughed once since we started giving him the meds so i hope thats good.
So yeah he seems to be happy so far other than the pain of when we lift him up so we dont any more. He still lets us pet him and seems happy. He rolls on his back to show us his stomach so we can pet him. I'm hoping its just a pulled muscle or something. |
Sometimes keeping them happy is all you can do. I'm glad to hear the things are improving though? I am sending you all the positive vibes, etc. :likecat:

:( enjoy this time you have. We were so not ready or prepared for losing Belle. She was fine, then she was gone.
|
Yeah i hate thinking that way but every time i come home i keep expecting that i'll find him gone.

We were so lucky with Belle.
Her trachea basically collapsed; just out of the blue. She was completely healthy otherwise -- we had taken in the week before and even a follow-up visit a few days before her last and the doc was impressed with how healthy she was for 13.5yo. That last visit (wed) we thought she caught a cold and was loud breathing. My wife worked from home Friday and hung out with Belle all day long and thought she was totally fine. Said she sat next to her, followed her around, totally normal. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461089398 When I got home from work, I noticed her breathing again and my wife said it wasn't like that earlier in the day. So we planned to take her back to treat her for a cold. that night she hung out with me on the couch, and sat with me in bed while we watched tv. But then she left and went into the closet. Something she never does; that's her hiding spot. so we knew something was up. I woke up that morning and she didn't want to eat, so that made me very nervous and her breathing was still sounding labored. I was waiting for my wife to get ready to take her back in, but Belle still came over and hung out with me. Then suddenly she was just gasping for air, and that was it. I got her to the vet --fast--within a few minutes and that was pretty much it. She was okay so long as they put a tube in her throat, but they couldn't find the source of her airway obstruction. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461089398 so we took her to a better facility where they performed more tests and tried various asthma medicines, and we even had her contained in a 100% oxygen tank for a few hours, but no matter what when they took out the tube, she couldn't get air. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461089398 By maybe 8pm, we were lucky enough to sit with her, without being on sedatives and sit with her and the doc explained that we pretty much needed to DNR her. We still thought at that point we'd be able to take her home We were optimistic the entire day, cause we had no idea she ever had any issue. Around midnight, they called and said it was happening again and we went back over and said our goodbyes. We are very thankful to have that last day with her, I can't imagine what it must have been for her had it happen during the week when we went home. It would have been awful. We were always worried that she would struggle with her weak knees and have poor quality of life at the end, would have never expected this was the way she would go (in fact we were going to start he on pain management for her rear knees as result of her last visit). But we were glad we were able to keep her suffering to basically a minimum. |

Got some bad news guys.
This morning i was woken up by my mom calling for help. Dudi had a seizure that lasted about a min. I felt his heart repeatedly stop as he was having the seizure. After that he was sleepy and wouldnt move anywhere. After a very long thought we took him to the vet, he looked over his scans from last week and gave him 2-3 weeks at the most based on him having this seizure and the weight loss in the past week. We put Dudi to sleep today. RIP buddy. 2001-4/20/16 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461173084 |
:( sorry for your loss.
