Cats are getting good at sitting and staying right on the porch.

One year ago I had the pleasure of spending some time with this tiny little girl. She was one of a litter of 5 from a pregnant cat I rescued at work one evening. She was the runt, and despite her foster parents best efforts to get her to eat and thrive, she didn't make it past 4 days of age. The other 4 are happy and healthy and in good homes now, and momma cat is being cared for by some wonderful fiends of mine who took a pregnant cat in knowing the cost (monetarily and emotionally) that they would bear doing so. I can't be grateful enough to know people like that!

Fly high little one! (You can go cry in a corner now, I know I want to...)

Here is a woman taking her cat out for a walk on the east river path:

Interestingly, the cat seemed totally into it.

The problem with taking cats on walks (my wife has been known to do it) is that they want to stop every few feet and investigate things. I guess that might be good if you're hunting pokemon.

Everyone went to the vet yesterday and we were complemented on having such happy, healthy kitties. Yay! Little ones got their autism injections vaccinations up to snuff and now everyone is on flea and worm control.

Of course, not everyone enjoys the vet.

But she does like watching me use the restroom...

Lets talk vaccines for kittens.

What vaccines are good and which are a waste of time/harmful for the possible good they bring.

Currently my kittens are due for their 2nd round of vaccinations.

Worried about autistic cats?

triple88a Jul 29, 2016 12:55 PM

Theres high reports of cancer on the injection sites. Plus my cats will be 100% indoors.

Rabies cause it's the law. that's all i ever do.

my cats are indoor cats, so it doesn't make sense to give them FPV or other flea/heartworm treatments.

you should certainly make sure the kittens do their entire course of deworming.

triple88a Jul 29, 2016 01:00 PM

no FVRCP?

Braineack Jul 29, 2016 01:04 PM

yeah we pretty much always skip that. my kittens got their round of it, and that'll probably be the last time we bother with it.

EO2K Jul 29, 2016 01:14 PM

Mom had worms and fleas when we got her off the streets and she really REALLY wants to be an indoor/outdoor cat so it made sense to do the full spectrum for her and the kids.

One thing we are doing that's a little out of the norm is waiting as long as possible before we spay/neuter. Lots of data out there that says this is helpful going forward.

Braineack Jul 29, 2016 01:51 PM

they require in VA before adoption, so mine got it at like 2 months.

Oscar Jul 31, 2016 09:52 AM

I has kittie! 15 weeks, neutered. Will have him chipped and checked out some time next week. Sleepy happy lap kitty.

Pics soon. Apparently the mobile uploader is not working.
