This is my stiff, hates to be held, retard cat Luke.

I was concerned about it too. However my cat doesn't care, she gets to live in a 72*f house year round, nothing is going to eat her, she gets to boss me around, and I don't have to live in a house where everything is shredded and I stain furniture with my blood.
Which is more cruel, leaving a stray cat to fend for itself and dodge hawks or declawing a cat and giving it a 55" Samsung LCD with surround sound and a human to boss around? |

Funny... my family has had cats since as early as I can remember and we have never had one terrorize our house with it's claws. They usually keep to the scratching post, and I see them scratch on the logs outside. Mind you it takes a bit of training and they learn what they can and can't do... but yea, I would never de-claw a cat.

I hate cats.
Exept for my beloved drift kitty <3 http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5591573_n.jpg |
This is my sisters cat I'm looking after while she on holiday in Canada. He is obsessed with water, I have to be careful if I leave the sink full of water because he jumps in it. lol

You guys know that a cat's claws aren't just for defense right? Cats that are declawed eventually can develop back problems. Grabbing onto something with their claws also enables them to get a nice stretch into their back muscles. A friend of mine has a de-clawed cat and her back feels like it has knots in it now that she's getting older.
Sorry for being on a high horse about this but I really think de-clawing is unfair even to indoor only kitties. There are other options like claw caps and the sticky tape that you can put on your furniture to keep them from scratching. My cat used to scratch our old couches but leaves our nice new furniture alone because we've trained him to only use his scratching post and one shitty old love seat that basically belongs to him. Reading: http://www.humanesociety.org/animals...declawing.html Keep in mind however that i'm also against keeping cats indoors unless they have health issues or something keeps them from really defending themselves like coyotes. I believe cats deserve the richness of life that comes with having the ability to go roam around the neighborhood, get in fights with other cats, kill small animals, and of course potentially having multiple welcoming houses. My neighbors and I kind of share cats haha. Attachment 187068 |
Cats aren't scared enough of cars for me to let mine out, if I thought a shock collar would work I'd go that route.
