Default Laid off. [email protected]@@K

Yep

The last few months the company has been losing crazy business since the boss is a complete ******* retard and the business is mismanaged with hundreds of thousands going to complete bullshit and what not. Today 5 employees get called into the office one by one. All walk straight out and leave.

My turn.

I walk in, have a seat. He starts with "You are a great employee and know what you're doing". I'm thinking "oh ****". Next comes "I'm afraid I'm going to have to let you go. I simply can not afford to pay you with the amount of money/business we're losing. I'm very sorry. If you need a recommendation letter or a good reference I will be happy to help you any way possible. Good luck and sorry".

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I thanked him and walked the **** out just like the rest of em. I am a pharmacy tech going to school part time to be a pharmacist. This was a privately owned pharmacy, not a chain.

FMYLIFE
Thanx to those that took the time to read my venting/frustration

I always say layoffs are a blessing in disguise. You always end up with something better. And you always think, WTF did I stay in that company for so long. Good luck finding another job, I am sure you'll find something else.

Good luck. I know the business I am interning for this summer is going down fast. Times are rough, especially for small guys who never had to think about careful management before.

Vlad, sorry to hear but; fwiw, you're in the right business sector for these times.

I'm sure it won't take you long to find employment. Don't let it discourage you.

did you ask him for a scrip of some prozac and paxil to help you get by?

small pharmacies are tough to keep in business. i worked for one in HS and eventually it sold out to safeway and the owner was their head pharmacist. techs came and went.

but they all drifted toward big supermarket type pharmacies.

Thanx for the support guys, I really appreciate it.

I knew for at least the last 6 months that this company will go down in flames just because I saw the financial side of things, and what kind of money was circulating. The thing that shocked me is that I expected things to stay somewhat ok at least til next year though and then BAM!

I just filed for unemployment (2 hours after getting laid off lol) but have also started updating/cleaning up my resume and reference letter packet. I will be contacting many many pharmacists and pharmacy managers that I have become friends with over the last 7 years in this field, and hopefully one of them has a position for me

eventually all independent pharmacies get put out of business. I dont think that there will be more than a couple in the whole US in about 8-10 years actually.
I have worked for 5 HUGE chains like walgreens, longs, target, walmart, to name a few, and have seen the way things are done and the way they operate. Small businesses SIMPLY CAN NOT compete.
Like I said: I never expected this place to last long. Just didnt expect the end for me to come so soon. Especially since I had one of the higher positions and was in charge of all typing/processing/billing/filling and ordering.....(a position of which there are only 2 in the whole pharmacy).

Btw: I dont ever take medications myself.

Vlad -

Sorry to hear about the short notice termination.

Ask for a written recommendation and see what (if any) severance the owner can (or is required) to provide.

Good luck with the search...

I already got a recommendation letter. It is filled with "Great employee" and "Knows his job in and out and is very computer savvy"...That is a good thing I think....Filed for EDD unemployment insurance, but hoping I wont need it for more than a few weeks, because I am on a mission to get another job. A good/stable one this time, with a good/stable company.

Thanx again guys. I am not stressing TOO much about it, but just really shocked ya know? Ate 2 boxes of ice cream and watched 2 movies so far

Tomorrow I'm getting up bright and early and,

Sucks to hear it man. Good to see you have a good attitude about the hunt. Those that lay around cry in their blanket looking for a pity party get left behind.

I couldn't agree more with this. When I was between jobs a few years ago I took a few small cheap trips (mostly visiting friends at beaches). Might as well enjoy the weather a bit too.
