last day with my Miata

I start my drive from here in Jacksonville FL out to Cali tomorrow for training, where I'll be for 14 months and then 3 months in Texas. Being that Cali emissions are a bit tougher than Georgia emissions, I won't be taking the Miata, just the SRT, which is stock.

I suppose it's a good thing though, since the Miata could be a distraction in many ways, and I'll need to minimize distractions. I'll be biking (weather permitting) to class and back so that ought to keep me in shape.

Anyhoo, light a candle for me, I'm about to know how Hustler feels, if he does indeed feel.

kotomile 07-23-2008 03:35 PM

Goodfellow AFB

You in the USAF? I was last stationed in FL with the 31'st tactical fighter wing (TAC) at Homestead back in the late 80's. God I'm getting old.

Ben 07-23-2008 03:59 PM

leave it with me. it will be cared for.

Nope, Army. Between being at DLI (college atmosphere) and an air base, I'm going to forget what it's like to be in the Army, or so I've been warned.

I'm sure :bowrofl: Unfortunately it's already in Jacksonville, and you should've seen the look on my dad's face the last time I thought about leaving it somewhere other than his garage while I'm gone. (it looked kinda like this actually: :ohnoes: )

Well, I've only been in Jax for a little bit, but I did used to live here a few years ago. I think I sent you a PM awhile back, something to the tune of "hey 904 that's Jax's area code, we should hang" but I forget what response you gave.

bryantaylor 07-23-2008 11:08 PM

and you still never hit me up while you were here, fucker

Toddcod 07-23-2008 11:50 PM

Well I guess meeting up is out of question. Lol

Yeah, sorry, I never quite got the Miata running right either (see thread in MS forum) and I think my front shocks are packing up.

rollin904 07-26-2008 01:14 AM

I've made it to Tucson so far, only two more days of driving. Hopefully everything holds together and we get there on time. (knock on wood) Managed to get 33.88 MPG out of the SRT4 too, not too shabby if you ask me.

mr_mazda329 08-01-2008 01:32 AM

Dude..leave it registered to either florida or Georgia. I left my Miata registered to Georgia when I PCS'd to Nellis AFB (Las Vegas) Then you wont have to worry about emissions/smog at all.

note: must register as a Georgia resident to do so.

kotomile 08-01-2008 09:27 AM

It's staying registered in FL, and my HOR is staying FL too.

kotomile 08-03-2008 10:17 PM

I've arrived, this place has its good and bad points. The roads are confusing as fuck, I just managed today to find out how to get to work and back, and my housing dates to WW2. On the plus side, the weather is nice. It's pretty consistently 65* and overcast. I keep seeing Miatas everywhere and it makes me miss mine bad. Sigh. I've only seen one other mt.netter have his location listed as Monterey (The Pass) so maybe I can get my fix that way.

bryantaylor 08-03-2008 10:48 PM

i will drive your miata and take pictures of it and send to you if needed, lol
