So the local police decided to once again buy radars to **** with motorists on the roads and highways. I thus need to find out what is the best radar detector out there and also ask those of you using one where have you placed yours. Any pic you can post will be much appreciated!
Thanks
Thanks
Im using a "cobra" not sure what model, It does 360 detection, talks, and can detect 12 different types of radars. I have it mount in the left upper corner of my windshield, kinda above my head...... Works great.
Valentine 1 with concealed display, end of story.
The detector fits perfectly on the windshield on the passenger side of the rearview mirror. The remote display can be run where ever you like.
I've had them all, Bell, Whistler etc. and the Valentine has been the clear winner.

V1, IF you're on the highway. It isn't *that* much help if you're just on surface streets. Cops will still pull you over for whatever they perceive to be a valid reason. They also don't like it when you tell them your $300 radar detector didn't make a sound.

bradlee, local cops are all corrupt. They're just looking to get your money. We've gone through this locally before. It starts with motorists getting tickets only to end up a few months later with cops getting some money and letting you go but I'd rather have the detector. Plus, since this is a "Banana Republic" I'm pretty sure they didn't purchase the latest radars available

I'm partial to the Escort Passport, but all my friends swear by V1s. I just like that I can see multiple radar sources at once along with their individual strengths, like bar graphs (V1 only shows you the number of "bogeys"). Its nice to know which direction the threat is coming from though, the V1 shows that, the Escort doesn't, although the new Passport might, haven't ever seen it in person.
I have a Passport as well, and it has saved my *** quite a few times. However, I hear pretty good results with the V1 and Passports, so it's probably the budget that matters the most.

I've had a V1
passport x50
bel 955
the super cheap $90 bel
First of all, I've had the v1, 955, and super cheap on in the car simutaneously. None are more accurate or sensitive than the other. Yes, the $500 V1 performed the same over 1-week with the $90 bel and I know I experienced pop, laser, and old-school speed trappings.
With that said, I gave my v1 to my sister because although I like the direction indicators, they don't tell you much other than to slow down. Now, they're awesome if you're drunk and want to know where the law is. However, the lack of automute is the bane of my existence, and I hate the ****. You have to press the button every time it goes off...every ******* time. My bel automutes, so I never have to touch it.
The higher you can mount it, the better. Do yourself a favor and hardwire it though.

why? It doesn't change the fact that you still have to slow down. Like I said, its cool when your driving drunk or running drugs, but that's about it.

About wiring the radar to the car and not the lighter: any specific location?
I know I ask a bunch of stupid questions so bear with me.
