"Lightsaber" for Only $200
I wonder how many people will order these and then blind themselves and others: http://www.wickedlasers.com/lasers/S...ies-96-37.html
Wicked Lasers radically redefines the way we see lasers yet again. Blue diodes was originally invented by the world-renowned genius, Shuji Nakamura over 10 years ago. However, blue direct blue laser diodes have just now become available in the consumer market. Wicked Lasers has created partnerships with the world's leading blue diode manufacturers to create the world's first 445nm direct blue diode portable laser, the Arctic. The Arctic emits a 445nm cool blue, ultra high power 1W beam which appears up to 4000% brighter than the Sonar's 405nm violet beam. This direct blue laser diode is the result of the evolution of laser technology. Less than one year ago, this laser would have cost thousands of dollars to build. Don't let the Arctic name fool you, this laser possesses the most burning capabilities of any portable laser in existence. That's why it's also the most dangerous laser ever created. In recognizing and mastering the power of direct blue diodes, the Wicked Lasers' Arctic shall become the standard by which all other blue lasers are judged. The new Arctic makes history with the addition of an electronic SmartSwitch™. The ergonomically positioned SmartSwitch™ makes the laser over 100 times safer to handle and enables 6 long-awaited features. As an additional safety precaution, each Arctic comes with a removable training lenses and standard lenses. The removable training lenses allows our users to initially start out using the Arctic but at a fraction of its maximum output power. Replace the training lenses with the included standard lenses for maximum power. Warning: Extremely dangerous is an understatement to 1W of laser power. At close range, this Class 4 beam will cause immediate and irreversable retinal damage. Use with extreme caution and use only when wearing proper safety goggles with an O.D. of 3+ is required and 4.4+ for longer exposures. Customers will be required to completely read and agree to our Class 4 Laser Hazard Acknowledgment Form. *Supplies are extremely limited as voluntary and regulatory restrictions increase the difficulty to purchase Class IV portable lasers. And George Lucas is mad because it "looks like a lightsaber": http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/gam...id=4pP-oDMVkcA |
because having infinity dollars is not enough money for one man
|
You forgot the part about where they have been out... and already being sued by Lucasfilms for copyright infringement.

id love this for all the people that text and talk on the phone while driving. a simple laser to the eyes and boom accident. try explaining that to the judge asshole

So, do people still buy laser pointers as toys?! Didn't that die out like 10 years ago? Am I missing something here, what on earth would justify a $200 laser pointer no matter how bright it is?
|
I imagine popping balloons and lighting match heads would be fun for a couple days. But yeah, I'd need it to cut clean through squirrels for $200.

Holy fucking shit, I want one of those for my gun.

I was obsessed with high power lasers for a time, and always wanted $1000 to fall into my lap for one of the 500mW versions of the green.
And that's just 150mW. Being air traffic control for birds would never fail to be entertaining to me, but then again I'm easy to entertain. Steer flocks over my neighbors house so they would shit all over his cars. |

You have to be very careful about using one of those things to point into the sky, especially after 9/11 when everyone got so sensitive. Thanks a lot Bin Laden. |
Now this is a laser my cat can appreciate.

I own a class 4 laser; it was considered high power when I bought it a few years ago. It is an optitronics 532 NM 160MW 100% duty cycle, as in turn it on and walk away with no damage. I paid a tad over $900 for it, with the sole intention of blinding pigeons. It worked really well for that.

I'd get much joy out of popping/burning those huge inflatable animals that dealerships use to announce sales.

I can haz lightsabrez? For two hundredz?
Seriously though, I wonder how many juvenile assholes blinding drivers and crashing cars it will take before they pull it off the market. I do, however admire the brilliant applications proposed in the thread thus far. |
