I love that it's listed over there as "new and hot on the market". Any way to change the V in Voodoo to a D?

Two hundred dollars they want for those. For that price they had better come with a free electronic BOV sound simulator.

NA6C-Guy 12-21-2009 01:33 PM

Two hundred! Jesus Christ, who the fuck would buy that? Well, I know who, the idiotic ricer type.

levnubhin 12-21-2009 01:47 PM

Do want!!!

Not!

I didn't follow the link to see the price. Holy hell! Ebay's got fake Brembo covers for 1/10th that.

My favorite stupid cover is the new Vette ZR1. They are so proud of the plastic cover they put a clear window in so you can admire it without lifting the hood.

If you had an LS9, you'd want to see it too.

I'd want to see the motor. Not the plastic cover over it! Chevy thought it would be cool to be like the euro's but a plastic window to view a plastic engine cover is not this...

No, I wouldn't.

the ferrari window has a purpose, the lambo window does not, making it homotastic.

Stein 12-21-2009 02:09 PM

I'm going to get them. I'm tired of looking at my rusted calipers and I don't know how to remove them to paint them.

Ben 12-21-2009 02:14 PM

Lies!

I'm looking into producing polycarb miata hood power bulge replacements as we speak.

You'd better file a patent for those real quick, before somebody starts making knockoffs.

Every link I clicked I hoped to find out that it was a joke.... I really can't believe people will buy them.

jacob300zx 12-21-2009 05:19 PM

I'd rock a clear hardtop, it would be like racing in a fish bowl.

sixshooter 12-21-2009 05:59 PM

I saw the Mustang version of the gay caliper covers two weeks ago on the interstate. I laughed pretty heavily. They are huge and look ridiculous with the little stock rotors.

Scuba_Steve 12-21-2009 06:24 PM

When I have an LSx in my Miata, you can laugh at the engine cover all you want :jerkit:

naah :P just like the Lambos, the purpose of the rear glass in every mid-engine Ferrari model is to see the engine first and if it has a second function ... meh, no one cares about it ...

You know I was talking about an entire cover for the miata motor to simulate an LS7? :loser:

I'll only laugh if you install a window in the hood to show it off! Actually I take that back. In an LSx swap Miata that'd be less :greddy: than Chevy's ZR1 peep hole.

I've warmed many a poptart under the hood of a car.

[QUOTE=Tomiata;4253934]
Then I learned that they not only look good, but also provide benefits that were unexpected: !) they actually help to cool the brakes - the cover acts like a heat-sink wicking away heat

No

Yes, they seem expensive at first. And maybe they are for some. But if you want the look of "big brakes," but don't have the time or mechanical skill to paint your calipers this is a great alternative. And that makes their cost appropriate. Big brake kits go for thousands of dollars!

Because they improve performance

I saw a comment about the size in this thread, but that is the point, they are supposed to be larger than stock brakes. They are supposed to look like a "Big Brake system."

Is it "Ricer?" I don't think so.

Yes

Below is a photo of a Ferrari at a recent auto show, next to it a photo of my car. IMHO I believe that these Voodoo Caliper Covers achieve the look I wanted, and are definitely NOT "Ricer." As always YMMV

Some may also be interested in this video test of heat dissapation on You Tube:

YouTube - MGP Caliper Cover Field Test
That video is wrong in so many ways. You cant shoot the temp gun at a hot caliper then compare it to a aluminum cover an inch off the caliper. If he had shot that temp gun at the caliper behind the cover you would have seen the same temps/or slightly higher due to blocking the heat from escaping. Knowone cares what temp the cover is...whats the caliper reading behind it? If you can show me that they lower the CALIPER temp I will order a set for my race car and run a huge banner on my front windsheld like talladega nights...really

oh my god.

they're not even a solid piece. just a few pieces of bent sheet metal? FOR THAT PRICE?

AND "Some brake pads have wire clips from the factory. This clip
interferes with the Caliper Cover and pushes it closer to wheel. Use
pliers to flatten the clip and a straight edge to ensure the clips do not
protrude past the front of the caliper."

wat

oh wow, i thought they at least kinda wrapped around a bit, in order to look like a real caliper. but theyre literally just a flat piece of sheet metal...

theyre so fucking stupid that i almost want to get them to be ironic

gospeed81 12-24-2009 01:22 PM

omg...that place is over for me now

mgeoffriau 12-24-2009 01:32 PM

I have to admit, it's a great idea. Don't buy better brakes, just overclock the ones you have.
