Girl in Tennessee needs car help
My boss' 20 yr. old daughter is up in Tennessee doing some kind of summer job while she is out of college for the break. Her 200k mile Lexus SC300 is stalling out when hot. She is leading a team of other college students door to door selling books (stupid, right?) so the car stays on for hours at low rpms. She said the temp gauge reads fine and there is no smoke when she revs on it (I was concerned with oil fouling because I know it uses a little).
She said it dies when she puts it in gear and/or accelerates after sitting running for long periods of time. She indicated that it doesn't feel like the engine is shuddering when it dies. I am wondering if it might be a sensor getting heat-soaked or a weak/hot fuel pump.
Her father is worried about her. If she takes her out of state car to just any repair shop, she will be taken advantage of.
Is there a fellow on this forum who is anywhere near Columbia, TN? She said it is near Nashville. Maybe some knowledgeable do-it-yourself'er could meet her and take a look at the car, or at least recommend a shop where she would be treated fairly. Compensation would be arranged if you fix it, too.

I'm about an hour nd a half out of Nashville in Alabama..can't even think about getting up there during the week (Army) but if nobody closer is up for it I can probably get up that way this weekend. Only problem is all of the tools I own are in Virginia...and I've never worked on a Lexus before, lol..can't be too much more complicated than any other car on the road. Is it throwing any type of code?
EDIT: If she's got a nice cell phone like most people her/my age do...tell her to take a couple pictures under the hood to see if there's anything going on that would be painfully obvious to us on here but maybe not so much her.
