Looking for free video editor program

What do you guys recommend for a program to clip the ends off video from my GoPro? MP4 format
Windows 7 Pro OS.

Adding some text would be useful as well.

I used to have a Microsoft (or was it Macrohard) movie maker on my other laptop but there's nothing on this new one.

About as inexpensive as you can get = FREE. OpenShot Video Editor

Thank you for the assistance.

Nobody wants to see a car sitting in the paddock at the beginning of a track session. Or a boring cool down lap.

Adding to the discussion, what about a better phone app and pic editing app for Android?

I like Snapseed from Google for my Android photo editing.

I've been using Davinci Resolve to edit my videos lately. It's kinda overwhelming at first, but it's pretty efficient once you figure out the layout.

Movie maker is a free download for windows PC. It works well, if a little limited in terms of effects

That's the one I used to have. It's no longer available from Microsoft. I did not necessarily trust downloading it from a third party source on a company laptop

So it is - I must have picked it up just before it was decommissioned

I've just used the one Bahurd recommended.
It took a minute to figure out what it wanted but I was able to trim the ends of the video just fine.

Thanks.
