Lost my Linksys WRT54G today. What is another cheap/hackable router?
Back in the day the WRT54G was one of the best you could get (or at least I thought it was). If I wanted to spend $50 or so on a new wireless router what would I get?
(typing this quickly - I hate to be outside my NAT firewall <G>) |
just buy another from the ebays
|
also why the fu do you want hackable?
you are not sergi so why pretend to be. just get some bullshi with a firewall and be done. stop tryin to be leet robber |
I use a hacked WRT54G to extend my retarded ATT Uverse router's wireless network.
Lots of reasons to hack a WRT. |
ok gimme some SPECIFIC technical reasons motherfukkers
i used to build datacenters for a living so i have a big dick. |
I just gave you one. :)

More!

ASUS RT-N16, great file server with 2 USB ports and 128mb of RAM iirc. Wireless N and gigabit. What more could you ask for?
|
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices ? I <3 DD-WRT
This reminds me that I've got 3 WRT54GL routers stashed in the office somewhere, I should probably go find them. |
Get another WRT, be happy. Love mine. No problems in the several years I have had it.

i used to build datacenters for a living so i have a big dick. It's called DD-WRT. ------- google it. Dude, craigslist. I buy them off CL for 10$ a pop all day long. Everyone wants the fagggoty 802.11N ----, so the WRT54G's are all over the place super cheap. |
I like my wireless N because I can't stand waiting so long to transfer movies and ISOs over G to my laptops. Once you get a taste of it its hard to go back. Plus the RT-N16 can actually run the mega package of dd-wrt.
Edit- Doesn't the 54g have issues with 2048+ connections because of the low amount of ram? |
Awwww shii!!! big bonnner!!!
ASUS RT-N16 USB POORTS FOR PUGGIN MY HARD DRIVES IN but no mirroring. Fail fuk you. |
Last time I checked DD-WRT had software RAID support so theres no issue there.
|
How do you do a raid with a device that only has ethernet jacks.
|
fuckallyall: 802.11A or GTFO! God damn N wireless be ------- up my chi. Back when G was hot ---- and you people were stepping all over each other in 2.4, I went A and had the whole 5ghz band to myself (other than cheap china ---- wireless phones)
Google fail: Cisco-Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router, In Stock, Only 3 left in stock--order soon. $54.89. Edit: Me Fail: WRT54GL - $49.99 :giggle: |
check your favorite firmware's supported devices as mentioned above
cross reference to amazon sort by ****+ and price <50 and you're done. and upgrade to wireless N maybe if it's in the price range. |
Just picked up a Linksys E2500-RM. Any thoughts?
