m.net - Miata of the month...Briata?
http://miata.net/motm/2011/briata.html
W T F I'm nominating this to cr.net's car of the decade. Kudos to the work he put into it. Just, the overall look....oof. |
 Ewww, not the last thing I wanted to see before going to bed. Now I have to go watch some more porn.
|
Holy riced/gay miata. Did he really cut up a hardtop to add a sunroof?
"IF YOU CAN DREAM IT,YOU CAN DO IT": MY BRIATA |
I don't get why people take a hard top, the thing meant to make a 15 year old water resestitant car water proof, and cut a big hole in it to make it water resistant again. ITS A CONVERTIBLE. You want sun? take the roof off dammit.
|
As much work that was put into this car, it still is a tasteless pos.
|
Dear god... that is something aweful.
|
Lost for words at the moment.
|
Do the people at miata.net have a strange sense of humor, or are they really that stupid?
|
:barf:

And so, my British Roadster Inspired And Thuly Accessorized - aka "BRIATA" - was conceived!! My plan: to take a new Miata, with its already beautiful 50-60s European inspired design and add my own touches of "Anglofication". Honestly, it's just depressing looking at that car and thinking about how much money was spent. |
The only thing I like about it is the RHD swap. Other then that it is meh.

This is what I love about miataturbo.net, we have good taste and understand performance. This guys dream was more of a nightmare to the rest of us.
|
When his acid trip is over... He will realize what he has done.
|
|
The January miata of the month was more my style. Bonus points for crashing into a port o potty on track.
|
Interestingly, read through that article about the car (overall I don't like it) but noticed that Ed Hanson, the guy who did his exhaust, is the guy Goodwin Racing referred me to for custom exhausts and whom I spoke to earlier today and will have doing my custom exhaust later this week.... small world.

Just noticed at the end of the page: this guy dreamed of being a playboy bunny... until he dreamt up this even loftier life goal... explains a lot.
|
Oh wow...did no one notice that the guy registered at m.net back in 2005 and has all of 1 post back in 2007?
http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...ghlight=briata Community...we has it! |

So you'll be requesting the "quadzilla" center mounted exhaust?

Met with the exhaust guy today and brought up this dude and his "Briata" and apparently when Ed was welding it all up the owner was jumping up and down giddy with excitement like a child.
I can just picture this 50+ year old vietnam vet bouncing around because he's getting quad tipped exhaust... excuse me, "quad-zillas" on his miata... |

Scares me to think how much money he blew at JC Whitney to whore that thing up and make it completely useless as a DD (unless he's a rural mail carrier). EDIT: Maybe he's a rural male carrier... |

Hahaha! So basically you guys are ranking m.net lower than cr.net when it comes to over-the-top personalization? Ahhh, I was thinking it was the other way around. My bad.

My god, I have to go back and shake my head at this daily now. Chrome mirrors, chrome wipers, chrome tsi's, chrome side running lights, chrome fender vents, chrome wire spoke wheels, chrome steering wheel, chrome vent rings, chrome ashtray, chrome cup holders, chrome e-brake..... The tan seats with black piping is ugly, steering wheel is ugly, center console is ugly, everything about this car makes me angry and sick.
"I'm sure he'd (Frank Sinatra) like our Briata and hope Miata.net dreamers will enjoy also." I'm sure he'd punch this retard in the face. Is this Miata of the month a voting thing, or does one of the blind mods pick one at random? I hope it's not a voting type deal. |

Chrome belongs on a Harley, and that's about it. Most cars old enough to be covered in chrome from the factory, I probably don't care for.

MOTM is chosen mostly for the story. Look back, and you'll see ratty cars that have been restored, cars being driven to Alaska, people who have gone to a lot of effort to get their perfect Miata to some difficult country, people who have turned playing with Miatas into a business, etc.
What they are not is just a list of modifications. Simply having a pimped-out car won't get you chosen, although if you designed and built the parts that counts for a lot. Bob Bundy, for example, would be a great MOTM story (hint hint) because of the amount of independent thinking he's put into that car and what he's done with it. Think your car should be MOTM? Then submit it. Tell a good story. You don't need to be a member of the Miata.net forum or anything, and it's not chosen by voting. And yes, once in a while a polarizing car gets thrown into the mix. Some people love cars like the Briata - the owner does. But not everyone! |

Hey while we are on this topic it is kind of funny we are laughing at this-- Our homepage miata hasn't changed for like a year. |

And yes, once in a while a polarizing car gets thrown into the mix. Some people love cars like the Briata - the owner does. But not everyone! Point is that I like to do with my cars what I like to do. This involves modding them, the track, the mountains, and other hoon worthy activities. People can not like that, call it dumb, and poke fun at me for wasting countless dollars and hours doing these things. I dont care, but i reserve the right to make fun of them too! |

Excellent point. It's not about the car itself.
