Maaaan. Why are clutches so expensive.

Well.....
I was getting ready to put up the car on Craigs
and the clutch is now slipping.....
And I DO NOT want to spend $381.82 on a clutch and then 250 for someone to install.
And I dont want to buy a cheap clutch for it either, then they will have to replace it in a couple months....
Anyone have a good used one?
Or know where I can find one cheap?

Philip 09-15-2007 04:34 PM

sell it as is and disclose the clutch.

Slidin'Miata916 09-15-2007 04:36 PM

Disclose?

nester 09-15-2007 04:41 PM

I have a 1.8 flywheel, clutch, and pp with only 5k miles on it, I will let it go to someone on here for basically the cost of shipping..

Exactly.

nester 09-15-2007 04:53 PM

it's OEM. It came off the engine I bought when my wife popped mine..

2005 Miata, 5k miles on the odo. It's a Daiken Disc/PP.. I ran the OEM clutch on my car for a long time with no issues..

neogenesis2004 09-15-2007 05:53 PM

Put it up for sale and tell them it needs a new clutch

cjernigan 09-15-2007 05:55 PM

You could buy one of those cheap ass formula 1 clutches off ebay as a last resort.

magnamx-5 09-15-2007 06:04 PM

Why do you care if the F1 clutche lasts 15 or 50K miles. just put one in they are 170$, and drive just fine at 8psi. Even with all the sliping mine was getting in high boost it still was on track to last 40K or so miles.

jif 09-15-2007 06:09 PM

turn the boost down? :eek5: less boost = less torques = less slippage

Orly?

I can't seem to find the flywheel that I bought. So your proposition sounds enticing.

yah turn boost down and say "needs clutch if you run more boost-it can run more boost"
