mechanical aptitude test

shouldn't take more than 10 minutes or so.
http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/quizz...calAptitude.php
80% 'passes' and 85% is average.

I got a 96%, missed 6 & 11, and I'm blaming that on their shitty drawings (no measurements given in 6 and unclear in 11)

.

Braineack 10-15-2007 01:52 PM

i suck i got a 50%, i would have gotten 100% if it weren't for the gear/pulley questions. I missed almost all of the for unknown reason. I also rushed. I got everything from that section on correct :(

samnavy 10-15-2007 01:54 PM

I'm retarded: 78%... but I know I guessed on all the electrical diagrams. I'm gonna have a great time with MS:td:.

KPLAFIN 10-15-2007 02:00 PM

100%....#11 wasnt unclear to me...

Virus 10-15-2007 02:08 PM

Damn...78%

Braineack 10-15-2007 02:11 PM

ok i feel stupid, how the hell do i suck at gears so bad. im going to retest

You know, that test minus the electrical diagram questions was exactly like the ASVAB I took in high school. So you're just a product of your environment. :)

If you got everything else right, I'd say you have more than enough aptitude than it takes to splice a handful of wires. You'll be fine.

Braineack 10-15-2007 02:20 PM

ok 84% that time. jesus.

Zabac 10-15-2007 02:27 PM

damn, 76% but i did rush, and i didnt look what i got wrong, but i have a good feeling what i did wrong

Stealth97 10-15-2007 02:37 PM

heh, got a 74. That means no one should listen to anythin I say on here.

Philip 10-15-2007 02:40 PM

I got 100

cjernigan 10-15-2007 02:41 PM

I missed the easy ones.

y8s 10-15-2007 04:32 PM

90%, but they aren't too clear.

the fans will rotate in same or opposite? well do they mean same sitting side by side or same facing each other?

oops on question 44, I thought it was air in the pipe, not water.

wes65 10-15-2007 05:05 PM

%84

Zabac 10-15-2007 05:41 PM

i missed all the super easy ones, i missed the fan one too...wtf who thinks of this shit...i was surprised to get all the electric circuit ones correct, i had no clue, process of elimination, lol

Mach929 10-15-2007 05:56 PM

86%, neat test

Tesseracter 10-15-2007 06:38 PM

100%, but a few answers were based on testing skills, not true knowledge. and that balance beam one is just plain WRONG, the B crate would need to weight 60lbs, and that wasnt a option.

Same rotation? You would think it would be reverse, because they were facing each other..
I also flubbed on the worm gear one. I'm such a bonehead :gay:

Loki047 10-15-2007 09:39 PM

82%, I would argue with some of the results though, like the fan one. The electrical ones killed me. The

bryantaylor 10-15-2007 11:20 PM

66, i suck

Trent 10-15-2007 11:56 PM

74%. Apparently, I suck at pullies.

akaryrye 10-16-2007 12:08 AM

82% here, some questions were unclear. I didnt understand the terminology on question 7. The problem for me was what is direct drive and how could it be distinguished from a reverse drive?

MX_Eva 10-16-2007 01:08 AM

80 percent. A little retarded on the first couple pulley questions apparently but finished them well. The planetary gear system caught me. My initial thought was that it would rotate, but as i thought about it too hard i decided it would lock.

That and I reversed the two battery questions...realized it when I got to the second of the two and just went with it.

Edit: Oh, and I'm an artist...not a engineer. :gay:

Milton Tucker 10-16-2007 01:41 AM

For some of the gear ones I had to use my interlocked fingers to decide which way things go. I never did take physics.

74% ha, I cut gears for a living, so a lot of it was common sense for me. although direct drive/reverse caught me off for a little bit. technically with an idler it wouldn't be reverse.

I missed a few at the end as I was rushing cause I need to go get ready for work...

nicacus 10-16-2007 04:13 PM

I suck at that game

mazda/nissan 10-16-2007 09:48 PM

yeah i scraped by with an 80% efficiency, the gears were easy (took my time and swirled my finger in the air), had no idea on the electrical (except for that gate/breaker one), and the fan would be pushing the other fan in the same direction, because the air is moving the same direction

Me, too. Being the sort I am, I had to go get out the box fans and try it out.

Most (for me), were easy and obvious. Being in engineering, some of this stuff has to be, or I'd spend all my time figuring out what I should already know.

Loki047 10-17-2007 02:26 PM

The fan question is wrong not matter what answer you put. IE they give no relative position if I remember correctly

TurboTim 10-17-2007 02:56 PM

Yep. I got that one wrong. Fuckers. I also got the voltage in parallel wrong, confused it with resistors in parallel; choose 6 volts w/o thinking. Duh.

I don't understand how pulleys work mathematically. I missed pretty much every question which required math.

kotomile 10-17-2007 04:11 PM

90% here. The fans were facing one another. I don't understand the pulleys much either man.
