In a week I'll see better speeds than that. Students will stop clogging up our pipe with facebook.

Boo...I guess I'm pretty happy, I dunno what I'd do if I had the speeds some of you do.

Yup, here in San Diego. The entire ship just got off 1 month of leave after an 8 month cruise... the paperwork is epic. Even though we're pierside, all the internet is still satellite.

that was in datacenter with 10 active servers running. its a full gig pipe :)

for some reason it detected it as east coast but in reality its west coast and i did west coast test so latency is low (dark fiber ftw!) and mileage is wrong :)

Thought that looked a little fishy.

Here bees a question for those that might be more tech skilled than me. When doing a speed test, does a massive dip mid test indicate anything? I notice that sometimes, or most of the time mine will start off pretty high, then drop to as low as 6-8mb/s before shooting back up to 16-17mb/s to finish it off, within the last 10-20% of the test.

that is totally normal. all it means that your connection is in "burstable" mode. plus you are sharing same external fiber pipe with 1000s of other people.

Thanks. Figured so, but I have never really looked into it before. Thought maybe there was a chance I was missing out on speed from something small that I was overlooking, or maybe my connection is weak. I do still think I have some issues with the line between the pole and my modem. The guy who did the install about 8 or 9 years ago didn't seem like he knew what he was doing, or was rushed or something. Pretty sure I remember him leaving a 15-20ft piece of spooled coax behind my wall in the crawl space. Think he said it needed the length to correct the signal or something from the pole. That end of the business is not my specialty by any means. This side of the modem I'm pretty handy.
