Do you have to pay 10% commision on everything you sell on miata.net? They seem to require it. I've heard you can get out of paying the commision on the ad. What's the deal? I searched here and couldn't find anything, but I know think their was a thread about this a while back.

The only ad that you're required to pay for is when you post to the cars for sale section. Everywhere else, it's "optional". Very few people ever pay.

Just don't pay them end of story.

a few years ago one of fish-man's 'buddies' sent me an email asking that i pay them for the sale of my valve cover. i simply replied that the valve cover was not sold as a result of their website and so i was not going to pay. :p

don't end the ad or they bug you. let it expire

you can end it, just say you sold it on ebay or to a local club member

I pay when the sale is a result of MNet's website; I don't if it is sold through another source or means. No matter what the owner is, I agreed to the terms. But that's just me.:ugh2:

If you post an ad, you have to click a button that says "I agree to pay". If you don't agree, don't post your ad. If you agree to pay, live up to your word.

I don't understand how it's okay by some of you (even encouraged) to be dishonest for whatever reason. If somebody agreed to pay you and then said "I don't think I actually will. I changed my mind / I don't like you / I found a way to lie and not pay you like I agreed to" I bet you'd pitch a fit and post about it so everybody else would know not to trust the person. Have some character. If you agree to pay (post an ad), do it. If you don't want to pay, post an ad somewhere else. Lying to save a few bucks isn't worth your integrity.

BTW, posting here to say you disagree will let the rest of us know not to trust you in any deals made here too.

I agree. When you click agree, you are agreeing that if you sell the item through the m.net classifieds then you'll pay. Nothing wrong with deleting the ad when it sells through another avenue. They can't limit the number of places you list the item.

For one, clicking an "I agree" button does not constitute a digital signature. It cannot and will not hold up in court, because it is not linked to an individual identity. I hardly think that my integrity has been compromised because of miata.net... but hey, don't trust me :bigtu:

I don't know about this one. On one hand, I see the point that if you click "I accept the rules" you should follow them.

But I am a bit pissed at Miata.net since when a scammer sent me parts that where not at all what he had described in the add (hey, I was young, foolish and probably easy to fool back then...). He ignored my emails and phone calls of course and when asking Miata.net for some help, I got the answer "we can check if he paid the fee. If not, we can ban him." No other help was possible. When I posted a thread to warn others, it was closed by the moderators, since they said I didn't have legal proof. I got the feeling that having people trade and pay the fee where more important then supporting the members, therefore threads like mine where not wanted. Since then, I honestly have not payed the fee.

It ended happily though. Some friends and I visited the seller 2 hours drive away and he then happily gave me my money back... really fast.

That is a good enough reason not to pay! Gary and his monkey staff don't care about people getting ripped off,Gary just cares about making money.
