He's afraid that if he makes that knowledge public, the Federal Government will somehow try to suppress it.

I will say one thing: first third degree burns are something which I hope never to experience, right up there with torture in an Iraqi prison and Kia ownership.

Hadn't thought about that... He didn't try to use any cutting tools against the fire that I can remember...

Sidebar: It's taken me about 15 years to finally hip up to the concept of layer-based image editing tools, but holy crap does it make putting together composites like Little Mrs. Pyro there a lot easier.

LOL I don't look in the "media" section.

18psi May 1, 2013 11:22 AM

I have a feeling most folks here don't know about the wonderful "new posts" button or the cool "active threads/topics" button and actually browse this forum the old school way like back in 1994

JasonC SBB May 1, 2013 11:24 AM

I saw that thread in "new posts", but the google link didn't work for me, so I didn't see the actual vid linked.

Actually, sunburns are not really that bad. Nowhere near Kia ownership status. :giggle:

I always forget that burns and homicide are scaled inversely from one another. There needs to be an official standard for these things, like the Improved Pain Scale:

I can deal with most types of blood & gore. Beheadings, traumatic amputations, open sores, large-caliber gunshot wounds, you name it.

But severe burns just give me the willies.

You mind if I rip this off, and post it in our Recovery Room at work? Sure is more realistic than the more politically correct one we now use.

Funniest thing is, you ask any one of the patients what their pain level is, they're lying there with a shit-eating grin on their face anyway from the Propofol, Versed, and Fentanyl they've been getting all through surgery, and they'll tell you it's a 10/10.

Bring on the Dilaudid !!!

Ain't my creation. Here's the original, where you can click on the images for higher-resolution:

Because they are nasty. I third degree burns on my index finger as a child. My fault, playing with fire (BBQ grill) when my dad's back was turned. The scars are all but invisible after 45 years.

But when I was younger, they would start to burn and itch like mad for no apparent reason. Fire is serious shit, and your body remembers it, even if you have forgotten.

mgeoffriau May 5, 2013 09:33 PM

Heh. Burns suck. I've been fortunate to only suffer a few relatively minor (and small burns).

1. Stuck an unfolded paperclip into a wall socket. Yes, I was holding on to the paperclip. Yes, it knocked me on my 70 lb, 4th grade ass.

2. Was reaching for the soldering iron, not looking, stuck my knuckle right onto the tip. That one didn't hurt for several seconds. Then it did.

3. Trying to close the lid to the grill, missed the handle, grabbed the edge of the metal lid. Quick enough to avoid blistering, but was stupid sore for a week or so.
