My rolling palace the 89 v6 dodge grand caravan is dead.

Need newish as in 2014+ minivan recommends. New cus its my only car for now. Needs to be reliable and i gitta be able to sleep in it. And have parties. What should i get.

Passenger van may work too but i will be driving this on long trips so it cant ride like shit.

Personal experience:

The Ford Econoline is fucking indestructible. I've built a lot of radio / TV remote trucks out of them, and they just deal with it. If Mad Max had needed to carry eleven passengers, he'd have driven an E-150.

The fuel mileage isn't great, but they're roomy as hell, handle well (for a van), ride like a dream, and you can sleep in them.

Transit Connect on the small end --- Sprinter on the larger end. Sometimes you can find a commercial Sprinter van at a decent price used.

Otherwise, step up to the next Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler 1 in a million of them at a bargain price whatever you can find. Hard to kill the V6 as you know (well, you did manage to kill one...).

Honda Odyssey. J35, near as makes no difference 250hp, modable. Drove Mobius', also known as the Enterprise. I was doing ~50 down Burnside in PDX when I thought, yeah, I could live with this.

Pretty sure all the ones I've touched have had the Triton V8. But to be honest, I've never really had to muck around under the hood other than to install a couple of Auragen systems. They just sort of... work.


That said, I'll second the Odyssey if you're dead-set on FWD. The mid-engined Toyota R30 was another amazing vehicle, but they've been out of production for a long time and it's pretty much impossible to find them anymore. And they don't accommodate a full-length mattress.

Anything with seats that fold into the floor. My mom has a 2014 Chrysler town and country and it's the only Chrysler product I would recommend. The interior is very nice and it rides pretty well.

ah yes that would be great. That way i dont have to pay storage fees for the seats.

It also allows you to sleep in it at night and pull the seats up during the day. You can also store shit under the seats, like for instance your bedding or ---- beads.

Is there any upside to buying american over japanese? I mean other than lower cost and quality.

The tradeoff for the stow-n-go seats is that they're way less comfortable to sit in than the removable-but-not-foldable seats in an Odyssey. Well, that and the whole "I have to buy a Chrysler to get them" thing.

My parents just traded in their 2003 Odyssey. Had 256,000 with ice cold a/c and everything worked. Went through two transmissions but that was the only issue the van had.

They have a Chrysler Pacifica now and it's pretty tits.

It's a 2007 EX-L (no DVD or nav), with 98K miles. We bought it new in 2007. Selling it because my wife wanted a new car, she's got a 2016 CX-9 now.

Exterior is a little beat up (damage on both bumper covers, some door dings & scratches), mechanically it's in great shape. Interior cleaned up well and is not too bad except for the upholstery coming off the back of the passenger seat. It'll probably go back on with some hog rings/zip ties, but I've never gotten around to messing with it.

The Odyssey had transmission problems from day 1, originally they used the Accord tranny and it wasn't really up to hauling the extra weight around. Somewhere around 2005 it got the Ridgeline tranny instead, and that basically fixed the problem. Our got a transmission flush every 30K, just from paranoia.
