Default Muscle cars ain't nothin! *NSFW*

Today I went over to my father inlaw's for a little cookout. My friend Scott from work met me there for 1 reason, he bought a 1999 Corvette LS1 6 speed. It's red with a targa top and tan leather interior. He bought this car about a month ago and since then he put on a Borla cat back exhaust, and a different air box inlet. He insisted I drive it, because he went with me to my last dyno and he said, "your car is so fast, I won't race you with my vette until I get LS6 heads and an different intake manifold and headers". Little does he know I'm 97% certain his car would beat me...off the line maybe not, but anything after I'd say 80mph and he would whoop my ***. He would reel me in like a fish.
Anyway...
I never even sat in a C5 vette, but I always liked them.
I didn't like this car very much though. I can see so much more in my miata and I felt this vette had blind spots all over. My miata on 12 psi blows you in the seat and spins the tires through the first 2 gears pretty hardcore. The vette's exhaust sounds great, but the seat of pants feel just wasn't there. It does spin the speedo way faster than my car does though. I think the pull factor has most to do with the gearing. The car is nice, but it just isn't for me. Call me a total ***, but I just favored MY car over a C5 vette.

So Scotty leaves to go to another party and this other guy rolls in not even 2 minutes later in a 1967 Camaro. It was an RS with a 327 4 speed.
Scotty is cool because he understands that anybody can buy a C5 vette and bolt on some stuff, but this Camaro guy acted like there is no other 1967 Camaro's in existence. He's like "this car won so many car shows", I'm like "what kind of American idol audience voted this car to win any show?" The car was actually pretty shady. It had a '68 hood with some scoops that he claims were factory, but I have never seen before. It had hideaway headlights, which I don't think were factory on '67's, but I could be wrong. It had yellow traction bars (like that hasn't been done before) and it had a 10 bolt rear. I asked "what gears are in it"? He said 3.73's and this car moves like I would never understand. He opens the hood like he was at a car show and all I see is a stock 327 with a 600 Holley carb and a chrome air cleaner. It did have ceramic coated headers. Other than that it was just another '67 camaro "YAWN". I drank a few beers near this guy and all he talked about was how he ripped 2nd gear on the way over and how his car sounds so great.
Why does this stuff always happen when my car is at home in the garage? I hate having to keep my mouth shut in public when I don't have my car, cause if you talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk...and that ************ woulda got walked.

Why? Cause I favor my miata over a c5? or because I can't stand ignorant people that think "that thing is a 4 cylinder, it ain't ****"

The LS-1 swap into my car is my ultimate dream miata swap...I just wasn't impressed with the vette, that's all. My friend has an '02 Z28 camaro with 4.10 gears and that thing tosses you around...

Drunk? No. If I was, there would be some sort of rating of craft beer in the Beer of the Day Thread.

While on the fast domestic topic, my cousin has a pretty ******* sweet mullet sled, a ~2001-2002 WS6 Trans Am, twin turbo, other bolt-ons, making about 680whp, street driven. ************ is quick. Interstate pull in 5th from 60-X is pretty fun, for sure a pull you back in your seat kind of ride. Forget what it runs at the track, I'm thinking it's somewhere in the 11's. I think he was having traction issues (no wonder).

Most of our miatas will beat the pants off any muscle car it comes up against straight line, and laughably in the twisties. However, unless you have sat behind the wheel of an old muscle car. Especially the big pushrod v8's, you have know idea what you are talking about. It's an experience that is smile inspiring every time. When was the last time you watched the chassis twist in your miata as you revved the engine.

You would have undoubtedly beat him. Pull into any parking lot, car show, group of ladies, and there is a good chance the that camaro will own the miata.

One day you'll learn that it's not always about speed.

I've always had a thing for those WS6 trans am.

As embarassing as it is to admit it. I'd love one of those white trash early 90's irocs. Oh what childhood memories are made of. I like trashy hot women, so it sounds like a match made in heaven.

I know it's not about the fastest and I truly appreciate classic cars. This was some ******* braggin how fast his "show" car was. Yes at a car show 95% should favor the camaro, but don't be a big talker if your clueless about performance.
