Mushroom e85
cellulose does not convert to sugar very efficiently which is why e85 is energy inefficient.
the mushroom converts the cellulose into sugar. this makes e85 energy efficient

I wouldn't be surprised if that enzyme they developed to break down cellulose more efficiently was derived from those in mushrooms...
Yeast is also fungi, as is mold etc etc. 
Getting the Ethanol (or methanol) from cellulose would make much more sense than from corn, sugar cane etc.
