LOL. I was hoping you'd pick up on that. Truth is, it may not always be possible everywhere but its still a good thing to keep in mind.

Ok, so how about the four eyes principle? That would work perfectly. Someone makes the product and then another person checks over it top to bottom. That persons salary alone will be payed by the savings on shipping defective stuff back and forth and the gain in customer satisfaction is priceless.

Most of the pipes that had problems are from about a year ago to the end of the year. I have not had many reports of recently made downpipes with problems. What we think was the problem has been fixed.

for the benefit of the thread's audience, was there a corrective action taken and if so, what?

johndoe 04-26-2008 09:37 AM

My kit will be here on Wednesday. I'll assemble it out of the car and report back.

If you mean concerning me, I returned the product, they took receipt and I'm awaiting refund.

That's what I would like to know as well. I've made a couple recommendations on things, like not coating the flanges but I'm interested in hearing what kinds of things they're doing differently. Sounds like they're straightening out their shipping with multiple look overs.

I'd be interested in seeing what their jigs look like, I've never been around tubing fabrication jigs so I think it's all pretty cool stuff.

Saw this one on HMT, pretty cool stuff. The hoseclamps are subpar and time costly even if using a drill to snug them down but it looks like a good fixture.

The is someone else making the downpipes now. The jig's have all been revised for the O2 sensor locations. I can post pictures of our jigs tomorrow.

Two weeks ago, we re-designed the 1.8L 94-97 downpipe. There were changes made to give more clearance by the CAT pipe.

Awesome, progress like that is always nice to hear about.

I'd be interested in seeing what a jig looks like. It would be even cooler if you were able to get a pic of my S5 pipe when it's on the jig :D so I could have a new desktop background.

God damnit I can't wait till I get mine.

Just a heads up but my Begi S downpipes flex section hits the transmission.

Just one corner of it in one spot, its not a big deal but something you may want to look at.

Ben 04-28-2008 02:00 PM

Pretty cool, very interesting to see for sure. They're very different then the one I posted.
Here are some pictures of the vibrant all stainless flex section and the 304SS 02 sensor bungs.
$3.57 for 02 bungs
$2.55 for 02 bung plug
$49.94 for 3"x6" flex coupling

Hey Stephanie,

Why dont you guys put the bung for the stock oxygen sensor on the engine side of the pipe?

Stephanie Turner 04-28-2008 10:38 PM

Most people don't want it closer to the hot parts.

Well, I got my Begi S3 kit today. I'm pretty sure they sent me two incorrect parts, well one I'm sure of, the other I'd like confirmation on. At some point before my stuff was made my downpipe order was changed from the standard 2.75 to a 3". I'm pretty sure I still got the 2.75". Also originally I had ordered the #1 intercooler but I called up and spoke to Corky and it was changed to the #2. It appears I still got #1. The intercooler change is on the invoice, but the downpipe is not, although I was confirmed by email that the changes were made. Another question: How difficult should it be to put together the slip joint on the downpipe? SHould it easily slip into place or require some muscle? Anywho, I'm not mad, just dissapointed that it's going to take a little longer.
Here's some pics so you guys can hopefully help me confirm before I call tomorrow. Thanks-
